I think it's unfair to throw the rubbish out of the trash can and to make our environment polluted

• Limited Access to Green Spaces: Unequal access to parks and green spaces could disproportionately affect certain neighborhoods.

In Slovakia, environmental injustice affects marginalized communities, particularly Roma, who face disproportionate exposure to pollution, limited access to clean resources, and are often relocated to areas with environmental hazards. For example, Roma settlements near industrial sites or contaminated areas, such as Rudňany and Jarovnice, experience significant health risks

• Impact: Soil and water contamination have posed long-term health risks to local populations, with minimal accountability or cleanup efforts for decades.

In Slovakia, examples of environmental injustice include limited access to healthy food in rural or impoverished areas, air pollution in industrial regions like Košice, and inadequate public transportation in remote areas. Additionally, some low-income communities face poor housing conditions with issues like mold and inadequate insulation, impacting health.

In my country we have air pollution from the vehicles and also from the industries. In addition you will see rubbish everywhere in the roads or squares. I want to add thefts in public places and wrongful deaths from mentally ill people walking free among us!

These projects are often approved without asking local people, and can damage forests, wildlife, and traditional landscapes. Some residents feel excluded from decision-making, even though their environment is being altered.

In some neighborhoods of Acharnes, it is so hard to find fresh fruits and vegetables close to home. We have to go far or rely on supermarkets that don’t always offer affordable or good quality produce. This makes it difficult to eat healthy every day. If there was offered more seasonal and local food we would support our health better and also help local farmers and reduce food transportation.

In some areas of Acharnes, public transportation is not easily accessible, especially for people living farther from the center. This results in residents having no choice but to use their cars to go to work. Traffic is increased and contributes to higher levels of air pollution in the area. The lack of reliable and eco-friendly transport options makes it harder for the community to reduce its environmental footprint. Improving bus routes and adding more frequent services could help reduce pollution and make the area healthier for everyone.

Plans to divert the Achelous and Mornos Rivers to irrigate Thessaly and Attica have been ongoing for decades. This affects the local ecosystem and agriculture in Etoloakarnania, especially Nafpaktos as it's depended on both of them. Many locals depend on these rivers, and diverting it threatens water supply, fishing, and biodiversity. From this fact are hurted mainly farmers and small communities who rely on local water sources.

There’s a lot of traffic and industrial activity near our schools and sometimes we smell the pollution in the air.

There have been concerns about uncontrolled coastal development and roadworks near beaches around Nafpaktos (like Psani and Gribovo, and especially in the Palaiopanagia beach). The injustice relies on the fact that natural beach areas are being changed without enough environmental planning. Locals may lose public access to clean beaches and see damage to natural ecosystems that once belonged to everyone.

The injustice: Small farming communities or shepherds might not be consulted, and they often suffer the most when nature is disrupted or water resources are affected.

Many homes in Acharnes are old buildings that were built before modern energy standards. They often lack proper insulation in the walls, windows and roofs, which means they lose heat quickly in the winter. As a result, families are forced to use a lot of electricity or fuel to stay warm, which can be very expensive and harmful to the environment. To improve the situation, we need support for home energy upgrades, like better insulation, double-glazed windows and efficient heating systems.

We notice that green spaces are fewer in the eastern parts of Acharnes. Every neighborhood needs parks and clean areas to relax.

The injustice: If sewage or landfill waste isn't properly treated, it can pollute rivers or the sea. This affects local residents' health and fishermen’s livelihoods, especially in smaller, less wealthy villages that lack political influence.

Some neighborhoods in Athens have heavy traffic and a lot of air pollution. It’s hard to breathe, especially in summer. I think all parts of the city should have clean air
