Conventional rental companies tend to focus on large scale fleets which provide limited options for users looking for flexible localised short term car rental (Peer-to-Peer Carsharing, 2025; Turón, Martínez, &amp; Garcia, 2025).</p><p><strong>2.2 Lacking Trust Among Users</strong></p><p>User trust is critical to the success of peer to peer car rental. Users may have concerns regarding their identity being verified with the owner of the vehicle rented, or how secure payments will be, or what state the vehicle is in when it is rented to them. Features such as the ability to authenticate users, rates/reviews for each user, and tracking of rental histories are all ways to establish trust among users. However, while most current peer to peer car rental platforms utilize one or two of these features, none currently use all of the above features to build complete trust between users (Peer-to-Peer Carsharing, 2025; Turón, Martínez, &amp; Garcia, 2025).</p><p><strong>2.3 Time Consuming Rental Process</strong></p><p>In addition to the issues with finding available vehicles and price negotiation, finding a vehicle to rent and making a reservation through existing peer to peer car rental websites can be difficult and time consuming. Most of the current peer to peer car rental websites require users to visit multiple websites to find a vehicle, contact the owner for additional information, negotiate the price, make a reservation, etc., This results in poor flexibility and long wait times for users to book a vehicle. Studies have shown that by integrating search, booking, communication, real time availability, and negotiable pricing into one website can greatly increase the user's experience and satisfaction (Peer-to-Peer Carsharing, 2025; Turón, Martínez, &amp; Garcia, 2025).</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>3.0 OBJECTIVES</strong>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>3.1 Provide Automobile Owners With Accessible and Flexible Automobile Rental Options </strong><br>To create a web-based automobile rental system that enables automobile owners to post information about their automobiles and automobile renters to quickly locate, view, and rent automobiles. This goal aims to resolve the difficulty that automobile users have in finding automobiles to rent. By maximizing the number of automobile users and enabling them to access automobiles in their local area, this project aims to make automobile rentals more accessible and affordable.</p><p><strong>3.2 Enhance Trust and Security Amongst Automobile Users </strong><br>To establish mechanisms to increase trust and security amongst automobile users, including: user identification and verification, in-app messaging, rental history tracking, and rating and reviewing systems. This goal aims to reduce the fear and uncertainty automobile users have in using peer-to-peer automobile rental systems. The rating and reviewing system allows automobile owners and renters to evaluate each other and build reputations within the system.</p><p><strong>3.3 Increase the Efficiency of the Automobile Rental Process </strong><br>To develop a rental management system that makes it easier for automobile renters to find, book, communicate with, and rent automobiles. This includes the ability to conduct location-based searches, negotiate prices using an offer feature, simulate in-app payments, display real-time availability, and track rental histories. The objective of this goal is to enhance the efficiency of the automobile rental process by integrating all of the components into one system.
