The centre start each term with a newsletter given out to parents through Little Family Room. In the newsletter, Teacher Roseanne is the one responsible for the contents and lay out of every newsletter with help from her colleagues as they give their contribution of pictures for their class.

Ready, Set, Launch - Start Small Dream Big 🟩🟧🟦🟥

Accepting the call of the President’s Challenge, the centre continue to participate in Start Small Dream Big Project spearheaded by Teacher Sabil in partnership with Teacher Roseanne.

Last 27 May 2022, children from N2 level to K2 participated in the launching of Start Small Dream Big. Hosted by Teacher Roseanne, she introduced and explained to the children what is Start Small Dream Big and how they can be part of it. There were music and especially dancing involve in the launch of Start Small Dream Big which everyone truly enjoys!

In partnership with Little Stories, Teacher Roseanne made a literary piece in order to share to parents and other schools how the centre celebrate and promote Start Small Dream Big.

Teacher Roseanne write and gather photos from colleagues to create the story uploaded in Little Stories. It includes the activities the centre has done to make Start Small Dream Big projects come to life.

Multi-media and Arts and Craft Host 🎤

Teacher Roseanne hosted the Art and Craft segment during the National Day Celebration through TEAMs. She instructed and directed children and their families how to make a paper hat with Singapore flag inspired. Through perseverance and teamwork among their family members, children were able to create their own paper hats with the Singapore flag on it. This activity helps to cultivate their love for their country which is also a part of their family as we are one community.

Mini Movie Theatre 🎬

The Dramatic Learning Centre was designed as a Movie Theatre. Children learned how to purchase a ticket and food, make simple transactions using money. It also helped them enhance their language and literacy skill as they communicate to their peers how many tickets they want and what food they want to purchase. It also develop their imagination as they create a story using the puppets and helps develop their oral communication skills.

Camping Day! 🏕

The K2 children are in it for a treat as they had a mini-camp retreat inside the classroom. The story of ‘The Camping Trip’ which is part of Marshall Cavendish Literacy Program was brought into life by Teacher Rose. The classroom was set up with tent camps, camp fire, camping vests, binoculars and other camping essentials.
Children learned safety precautions while going on a camp and instill the virtue of graciousness, respect, integrity and teamwork.

A part of the activities for the National Day celebration involves dancing and singing. Teacher Roseanne dance and sing along to the song ‘I Value my Family - Families for Life Song’ to promote good values to show their families in partnership with Start Small Dream Big Project. The video was shown during National Day celebration to help and guide children and their families to sing along to the song.

Art and Craft Host 🎤

In relation to the celebration of National Day and in partnership with Singapore Kindness Movement and Start Small Dream Big, another craft activity was hosted by Teacher Roseanne. The second craft activity will help to foster love and care among the children and their family members. It helps them to reflect all the good times that they have shared together. Teacher Roseanne help children to design and let their imagination flourish as they design the given photo frames. Everyone enjoyed designing their photo frames and brings back good memories.

Parental Partnership - Recycling

In order to promote recycling and to inculcate the virtue of love for earth, a recycling program was started. Children and parents donated their used cereal boxes to make high frequency word cards. In this program, children are able to recycle and learn at the same time.

Miss Earth Day Host 🌍🌱👩🏼‍💼

I was in charge to create a display board for the Earth Day Celebration. I used natural materials such as flowers, branches and leaves to make the signage ‘Earth Day’. In order to make it engaging and interesting for the children, I printed out a big picture of an earth which acts as a puzzle piece for children to put together. I also hosted the celebration and inform the children about the importance of saving the earth.

For this year’s Deepavali celebration, I hosted the mass gathering celebration at MSD room for both the morning and afternoon session. I shared to the children the history and importance of why we celebrate Deepavali. The virtue of respect and kindness was integrated as children were reminded to show these virtues to children of all races.

During the second term observation, the topic I was assigned to teach was STEMIE. The meaning of STEMIE was explained to the children and they were also able to create their own invention using the STEMIE approach. I pretended to be a ‘blind person’
as to catch children’s interest and also for them to be aware of the condition that blind people go through everyday in their lives.
