Factor - Capital, Labor, Land

Former Major League Baseball player and current LSU baseball athletic trainer, Jack Marucci, founds and creates Marucci Sports. Jack started off by trying to create a wooden bat for his son Gano after not being able to find a suitable bat on the market. Jack being the athletic trainer gave him many resources to use and help base his ideas off. Jack began shaping and creating wood bats out of a shed in his backyard in Baton Rouge near LSU.

2004-2005: Getting Marucci on the Market

Joe and Kurt helped get Jack’s bats onto the market, they did so in multiple ways. Firstly Kurt and Joe would bring models that Jack made to their teammates to let them test it out. If the teammates liked the wood that Jack offered with his bats, Kurt and Joe would bring their teammates current models of their bats back to Jack. Jack would then make the same exact bat and model but instead he would use his wood.

Factor- Land

While Jack continued making bats out of his backyard in Baton Rouge, Kurt was dealing with his own issues. Kurt’s career began to fizzle out after suffering a career ending shoulder injury. This allowed Kurt to focus his time on helping Jack and Joe with making Marucci the biggest bat company on the market. By the end of 2006 Marucci occupied 4% of the bat usage in the Major Leagues, this would soon change with Kurt, Jack, and Joe’s commitment.
