I'm Nicoletta Laurenzano and I'm studying to become a pediatric nurse. My choice was born from the love I have for children. Initially I wanted to become a paediatrician, but last year I failed the admission test. So I started this degree course at the Bambino Gesu Children's Hospital; during the practical training I started to love this profession, it is nice to be in close contact with patients and their families, to treat their illnesses and to help make the days in hospital less stressful.

I chose this article because it is very engaging for me because it talks about children. it is very interesting the idea that there is a place where terminal children can live "serenely" their days until they die. I hope that these paediatric hospices will become more and more popular so that children do not suffer alone at home but are assisted by qualified care staff and can confront and empower each other with other children destined to die.

My favourite personage is Meredith Grey, general surgeon, married to Derek sheperd, neurosurgeon, Meredith during her career has proved to be a very good doctor, she has won several awards. This TV series made me fall in love with medicine as a child. It's also true, however, that not everything they show in the series belongs to hospital reality and I could see this during my apprenticeship.  In spite of this, it is still my heart series that I would watch a thousand times over.

As soon as I graduate in pediatric nursing, I’d like to work at the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital. I’m a graduate student here, and I’d love to stay. I love children and that’s why I choose this course. The departments I liked the most were oncohaematology or pediatric acute care teraphy and I hope to work in one of these two.  I'd like to provide the necessary assesment to children and I hope to become a better nurse improving my abilities in relationship. In March 2021 I did my internship in the oncohaematology department and there I met Claudia, my clinical tutor. Even though that department was very emotionally heavy, thanks to Claudia I lived it more peacefully. She explained me how to prepare therapy, how to manage a central venous line, and how to compile the medical record. At the end of the two months of training alongside her, I had the necessary knowledge to manage a cancer patient. It has always made me feel like an integral part of the team and has made me spend two wonderful months.
