Imagism is a movement that started in the early 20th century that sought to convey and show images that would allow your brain to see what is going on. It usually consists of things that we find very familiar and we can see them as a memory or something that we recall from childhood. In this portfolio you will find an original drawing that has been completed by me, a poem by Amy Lowell about the fall, an original poem, and a beautiful picture that has been found on Unsplash. This portfolio is meant to remind you of the beauty of fall.

This picture embodies a picture that I would have liked to take, but in my backyard there are hardly any trees, and the beautiful ones are only in my neighbors yard. This photo is capturing the mesmerizing red, yellow, and orange leaves to share with others. By taking a picture of a phone taking a picture it gives us a sense that we are holding the phone and taking the picture. It is a very pretty photo and a lovely place to take one too.

I made this poem to describe the many different parts in fall that make you smile or make you happy. In the poem I talk about the colors matching the sunrise and the rustling of full trees. When the leaves fall they are a very pretty red or orange, and in the mornings the sunrise is typically red or orange, so I just matched the two up. When I say the "rustling of full trees" I mean that satisfying brush of the leaves in the trees floating around. The full trees are just trees full of leaves. Another defining feature of fall is all of the life so I included a description of the birds in the morning when they tweet, and just to wrap it up nicely I included what the colors of fall actually are, beautiful.

In this poem there is one part that I chose this for, it is when the author says, "The dew shines red"(Lowell). When I was reading the poems an image of that popped into my head of a beautiful fall leaf, a red one, covered in dew from the previous nights rain. It describes the beauty of the leaves and how pleasant the dew is when it is with it. Leaves are a big part of your childhood and they are very pretty to look at. I used make leaf collections and see the different colors of leaves that I would find. This just brings another perspective and another person in who appreciates the beauty of fall.

This drawing of a leaf is very pretty and it also shows that without color fall isn't as special as it usually is. What gives fall its trait is the color and the meaning, but when all of that is taken away, we are left with bland and dull leaves and that is what I decided to draw. The leaf itself has its veins that are more highlighted so you can see them, and I also made the veins to be extra highlighted to show that they had drained the color from the leaf. The veins are the center and the important part of the leaf and if you drain the color out of it like you drain the color out of fall, then you can see it has lost its significance. The leaf is drawn relatively small to the page to show that it is small compared to the entire meaning of fall. There is not a lot of meaning to fall if it is just leaves, but with all of the colors, wildlife, and happiness, that is what makes it special.
