I like what Callie and Hannah have been saying about healthcare in other countries; there's a pretty good balance in the United States, and in other countries, there are plenty of waiting lists and obstacles. Also, what Mrs. Ammons said is true too; medical tourism is actually a popular solution to challenging healthcare systems.

I feel like Keynesian and Supply-side both have pros and cons, like what Kathy is saying. I think Keynesian historically has worked; with the New Deal, FDR took a bit of a Keynesian-esque approach by funding programs to get the US out of depression. I also like what Kathy is saying about putting money in the pockets of the big guy; are they going to give back to the lower classes? Are they going to be more like humanitarians?

I think the raising the tax on the wealthy question is really interesting, and the arguments everyone has been making are really interesting. I like what Mrs. Ammons said about the progressive tax rates. In the Crash Course, what's-his-face (wait is it Craig, right?) was explaining that the tax brackets increase only for certain amounts of income, so I think it would be curious to increase the taxes on the wealthy. Savannah is also right; the "bad" people are going to try to get of the new higher taxes anyways.

I agree with Sarah, Amanda, and Andrew on the military spending idea. In debate, one of the sides we could choose on the topic of increasing spending was to just leave the spending at the same amounts we're already spending.

I really agree with what Alex V. said about helping the homelessness issue. Like a big 'amen' to what he said; I think we need to teach the homeless how to be more self-staining. It's the same idea as "give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."

And they can do this buy having their kid with them or maybe their dog, just anything that can get sympathy from people and therefore giving their money back.

There's also the side Maddie had said where that person really could be struggling and maybe somebody either a stranger or relative gave that person something nice as a gift and that's one of the only nice things they own

I agree with Mindy on this one because it may take longer for people to be able to see their doctor in countries other than the U.S.

I don't think that the rich should be taxed more because like most people were discussing, they worked their way up to the top to earn all of their money. I feel as if they are donating their money in good ways back to their community, they shouldn't be taxed as much as they are now.

This is why issues like welfare and homelessness are such touchy issues, because there are people who really need help and maybe a little boost to get back on their feet.

I can see both sides on the debate of taxing the rich more. When there are some people making in the say $50 an hour, it's not fair to tax them the same amount as someone who's making minimum wage. I would be pretty upset if I was paying the same amount out of my payroll as someone who has millions of dollars in their bank account. I think it's not necessarily right to "penalize" rich people for being wealthy, but I think they should have to pay more based off of their hourly wages.

I think that the capital gains tax should be the same as the income tax. I also think that there should either be a graduated tax or a flat tax (personally, I like the idea of a flat tax better than a graduated tax). I don't know much about taxes but from what I do know, I think that this would be a good plan. I also think that the loopholes in the tax code should be eliminated and that the tax code should be simplified.

America has a much better society than some countries out there in the world and we need to use this influence to a benefit and not just stay in a bubble, not ever interfering with trouble.

I think that the U.S. should focus more on internal problems rather than international ones. I don't think that we should ignore other countries, but I do think that we should focus our resources more on ourselves.

The most complicated part with foreign policy is when does America intervene? Where does the US draw the line in when to enter a country and offer our help and where do we say 'they can handle it themselves'. I know from my own family history that in the Bosnian Genocide in the 1990s the US didn't intervene until many people were dead and the people harbor feelings against the US because of that, but many US citizens don't want to deploy troops with good reason.
