One strategy is to convey your message well because very often the message is not clear which causes confusion between the sender and reciever. Which then makes it important that the communicater gets feedback to know for sure what he is saying is clearly understood. The key to effective communication is to overcome all of the barriers that stand in the way. To be an effective communicator you must be checking that your reciever is underatanding everything you are saying.

When I didn't Prevent Interpersonal Conflict

An example of when I had an interpersonal conflict was when we were warming up for baseball. My throwing partner was messing around and talking often. I was trying to get my arm warmed up so it would fully ready for the game because I was playing third base. He would catch the ball and talk to the person next to him for ahwile and this really frustrated me and I did nothing about it. In the game this caused me to have a bad throw when the first ground ball was hit to me. I could have handled the situation better by asking the coach to tell him to stop talking or ask another player on my team to do some extra throwing with me.

A common barriers to effective communication is the use of jargon. Jargon is over-complicated or unfamiliar terms. These can really confuse the person you are comminicating with. Its like you are speaking another language. Another barrier is differences in viewpoint or perception. It is hard to have a good conversation with someone who has totally different thoughts and feeling about specific topics.
