But as we understand from the article, you can't be happy only when you smile, or you can be sad when you look happy. So, I think that although there is no difference in happiness between men and women, women are thought to be more emotional because they express their feelings more.

Although prior evidence suggests that women really do smile more often, a new study, published in PLOS One, has considered a greater variety of facial expressions, and it finds that the gender pattern is more complex, with some emotions displayed more by men than women. Arguably, this work helps to reveal not only differences in the emotional signals men and women send to others but also differences in the emotions that we feel. Daniel McDuff of Microsoft Research, Redmond, US, and his team used a new automated facial coding technology to analyze the expressions of 2,106 people as they watched a series of 10 video adverts at home. The women smiled more than the men, replicating the earlier research.

Frowns are usually taken to be a show of anger, though the researchers noted that in this study, they might have reflectedgreater concentration or confusion. There is an ongoing debate in psychology about the extent to which facial expressions, including smiles and frowns, actually reflect and match felt emotions. But given work suggesting there is a close association between emotions and facial expressions, an implication of the new results is that women are more prone to feeling happy and also more anxious (or at least more inclined to show these emotions), and that men are more likely to feel angry (or more confused…), which raises the question of why might this be? McDuff and his team suggested that at least part of the explanation could be down to the different social expectations and pressures placed on the genders. There were a few other geographical differences: women in the US were the smiliest, while women in the UK and Germany frowned least. This allowed for many more participants than would normally be practical in research on facial expressions, which are usually decoded by a researcher.

According to the study on men and women, women are showing their emotions more than men. We can reach this conclusion because in the study women show more facial expression when they watched the videos. Women engaged in inner brow raises, an expression to express fear or sadness, but men frowned more, an expression to express anger, confusion and concentration. But there is one limitation with the study was the fact that people knew they were being videoed and this fact might have influenced their reactions. To summarize, women show more facial expressions than men.

Although previous observations and experiments have shown that women are more emotional, PLOS One's new experiment has the power to change our thinking. At the same time, this experiment allows us to reveal not only the difference in emotions between men and women, but also the differences in emotions. A group of companies used a tool that could analyze the reaction of 2106 people to 10 different themed videos. Participants were recruited from different geographies. Women showed greater feelings of happiness and anxiety than men, as in previous studies, but men showed more anger. However, according to the competition, which takes into account that the emotions are close to each other, while women experience feelings of anxiety and happiness more, men experience feelings of anger more intensely. At the same time, this event changes according to the geography of people.
