Met with Jessye to review feedback from focus observation two weeks prior. Explained strengths and areas of growth in scaffolding, social skills, and a combination of the two. One extra prompt when it comes to scaffolding and focusing on the repair after solving a conflict with the main topics of conversation and what we will focus on moving forward. Also went over tips for positive reinforcement in a specific situation where a child becomes uncomfortable when praised. Jessye will try to find what motivates this particular student in order to use positive reinforcement with her in the future.

Conducted a focused observation in Jessica and Karia’s classroom, looking specifically for opportunities to add one extra prompt to deepen concept development and strengthen scaffolding. I observed moments where an additional follow-up question or cue could extend children’s thinking. We will meet on Monday to reflect on these examples and plan next steps together to support more intentional scaffolding during instruction.

Sat down with Jessye and Karia to go over focused observation on Friday. We discussed that 1:1 concept development and scaffolding techniques have been strong and mostly consistent, however large group has been somewhat lacking. We brainstormed ways that they could’ve added an open-ended question to the large group lesson about feelings, and came up with “why do you think most people were sad today?”. Moving forward, teachers will continue to practice with concept development questions with one more prompt.
