To be taken away to a far away place through the art of music is a true feat. Leaving the setting that you're in to travel to the setting of the music being performed by the group is an incredible experience. That is precisely what happened listening to the Wind Symphony of UNT in the beautiful Windspear Performance Hall. Out of the pieces played, I by far enjoyed Ticheli's piece Blue Shades the most. It had me going the whole time listening to the different ideas and pictures that the composer was trying to show the audience.Music such as this is why I think that the classical music canon should be expanded. There are so many pieces that achieve what classical music can. This music can withstand the test of time and everyone can find something in this music. Anyone that listened to this performance could easily find something that they liked.
