Job exploration counseling

• Discussion of vocational interests.

• Review of local labor market and in-demand industries.

• Exploration of non-traditional employment options.

• Identification of career pathways.

Work-based learning experiences

• Apprenticeships and job shadowing.

• Paid and non-paid internships and work experiences.

• Informational interviews.

• Volunteering.

Counseling on postsecondary opportunities

• Awareness of career pathways.

• Promotion of participation in postsecondary education.

• Attendance at college fairs and tours.

• Accessing services and supports for people with disabilities.

Workplace readiness training

• Training on communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

• Training on independent living skills.

Instruction in self-advocacy

• Training on self-awareness.

• Guidance on disclosure of disability.

• Knowledge of individual rights and responsibilities.

An individual aged between 14 and 22 years old.

Eligible for and receiving special education or related services under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IEP, 504 plan).
