-  Healthcare: Michael has taken a leading role in working to improve our nation's health care system and making sure it works for Colorado families. From expanding access to affordable health insurance to investing in new models, technologies and science that will help to reduce the cost of health care service, Michael has worked with his colleagues on both sides of the aisle to improve the quality of health care in America.
-  Immigration: Michael believes that our immigration system is broken. That's why he took a leading role as a member of the bipartisan "Gang of Eight" that worked together on a bill to fix our immigration system. The bill secures our borders, includes a path to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants, makes reforms to an outdated visa system to ensure businesses have access to the workers they need, and includes important worker protections

- Healthcare: "It is my belief that all Americans deserve access to quality and affordable health care, and I am committed to supporting common sense solutions that expand coverage and contain costs" It is time to address the fundamental problem with healthcare in our nation—cost.  Sky-high costs are hurting families and Congress has a responsibility to intervene. Allowing the purchase of insurance across state lines, encouraging competition in the market, and providing consumers with price transparency are all achievable policies which have the capability to lower the cost of health care. Additionally, I support a regulatory framework that encourages biomedical research and innovation.  For new preventions, therapies and cures to be available to those who need them, Congress needs to eliminate the barriers standing in the way.  I support strengthening federal investments in biomedical research and strong reforms to FDA to ensure consumers have access to life-saving breakthroughs that often times mean the difference between life and death. 
- National Security: The United States must have an assertive and principled foreign policy to rise to the challenge of the growing threats of international terrorism, nuclear proliferation, and authoritarian regimes that threaten global peace and security.  While we are focused on the ongoing crises in the Middle East and in Europe, we must also look to strengthen our existing alliances and build new partnerships in the Asia-Pacific region. This region is home to the world’s most dynamically-growing economies, but also the challenges and opportunities presented by a rising China and the existential threat of a belligerent North Korea. We must pursue policies to ensure the United States remains the leading force in that strategically-important region.
