Examples of co-teaching:

• One-teach, One Support: One teacher is in charge of the classroom instruction, and the other walks the room for support (One Gen Ed teacher, one special Ed teacher, students know know there is a special ed teacher)

• Parallel Teaching: students are split into groups, one teacher does one half, and the other the rest

• Station Teaching: Teachers individually lead different stations.

• Alternative Teaching: the majority of the students work with one teacher, and the rest with another

• Teach-Teaching (most effective): Two teachers are working together during instruction with equal content understanding and respect.

• Individual help for students (One-teach)

• Easy to observe behavior (One-teach)

• Working in small groups (parallel teaching)

• Each teacher has lesson ownership (parallel)

• Increased student engagement (station)

• Can cover more material (station)

• differential instruction (alternative)

• occurs inside/outside the class (alternative)

• The students see both students as equal (team)
