I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but I thought the ending was a bit anticlimactic. My favorite part is when Mr. Keating tells his class to rip out the introduction in their English textbooks. This relates to Transcendentalism because Mr. Keating is teaching the boys individuality. He wants the boys to think by themselves, and think about poetry with their own minds. Mr. Keating wants the boys to read poetry their own way, not analyze it and read it the way the book wants you to.

This poem is talking about life, how life had been so gloomy for Walt Whitman. It was filled with "poor results", "useless years", and "sordid crowds." The second stanza is where the poem gets more uplifting, say things such as "that you are here--that life exists and identity..." I liked the twist that the poem started all gritty, but gets hopeful in the end. This poem relates to transcendentalism because it's practically saying "come out to the world, say your verse." Say what you will do in this life, and remember that even in the worse times, there will always be life. It is a bit like seeking the truth but it's just your own truth.

As I wander down this rough and tattered road, I look deep within myself and think about how nature has shaped my life. I come to realize, that it hasn't shaped it at all. Our hands are more focused on small contraptions, rather than the beauty the Earth has given us. The longer I walk down the road, the more my eyes open to our faults in the world. I begin to sprint, feeling the wind picking up and for the first time, truly experiencing it. I pant. I breath in. I close my eyes, and smile. Tears run down my face. For the first time in what feels like years, I let out a true laugh.
