Why, So What?

Why is it so important for students and even educators to be a creative communicator? Well, let me tell you. Ever met a student who only learns when it's hands on? Ever meet a student who can read the text and retain the information without ever needing to write something down? Ever meet a student that needs to see a picture or visual along with words in order to full comprehend the material? I have too. Not every student learns the same way. Allowing educators and students to be creative, opens up many different forms of expression and learning and it reaches all aspects of the classroom and enables all students and educators to be successful. With technology constantly being integrated into the classroom and becomes more accessible to educators and students, it creates a larger platform for educators and students to benefit from learning and communicating with each other.

So how will this benefit us in the future and is this something that can reasonably be implemented into the curriculum? I can say as a teacher who uses a tablet in my classroom that technology can be integrated into the classroom but not even just technology like devices but other creative ways for students to communicate to others. The toddlers in my room are a perfect example of having to use other ways besides words to communicate. This is a perfect example of a student who can do one thing but not the other and vice-versa. We use technology in the classroom by uploading pictures and updating information on what the kids did that day like what they ate, when they are, when the slept, how long they slept, when they had a diaper change and what was it. This helps parents from a different location stay in touch with their child while inside the classroom, the kids are still a bit too young to use tablets effectively so we use flashcards, pictures, drawing and writing and singing to introduce material to them. LONG story short, everyone learns their own way and at their own pace. Implementing and enforcing this standard of Creative Communicator is so important to me and to future generations because everyone learns and everyone expresses themselves differently.

What if students don't have access to internet during their spare time?
I would like to be able to provide a couple computers, personally, to my classroom to allow students to work on using and exploring technology to better their learning abilities and help them prepare for success. If this isn't possible, I want to be able to offer my support and time to help those students who need that extra help but aren't able to access the internet or integrated learning. Every student deserves an opportunity and most schools have computer labs and it would be my job to ensure they have sufficient amount of time to go to the lab and work. This is why we're here. To teach, to help, to support but also, to learn.
