• In the NPR recording, "Brain Maturity Extends Well Beyond the Teen Years" the speaker, Sandra Aamodt. a neuroscientist, believes that maturity in adults happens after the age of 18, close to the age of 25. 
• "So the changes that happen between 18 and 25 are a continuation of the process that starts around puberty, and 18 year olds are about halfway through that process. Their prefrontal cortex is not yet fully developed. That's the part of the brain that helps you to inhibit impulses and to plan and organize your behavior to reach a goal" (Aamodt).
• "For instance, a 20 year old is 50 percent more likely to do something risky if two friends are watching than if he's alone" (Aamodt).
• I agree with this article because I believe that your brain does not fully develop until around the age of 25. The part of the brain that is not fully developed needs time to grow so it works probably when it is fully developed at an older age. When we are young we are more likely to do something dumb because we don't think it through.
• Yes this article links to the novel Dear Martin because while Jus and Manny were driving they were only 17, and when Garret Tison told them to turn the music down they didn't think what they were doing through and made the wrong decision.

He interviewed people from the age of 18 to 29 on what they wanted in life. One of the contributors to the article, Jean S. Phinney, PhD, a psychology professor at California State University, Los Angeles, writes on emerging adulthood's different features in ethnic-minority groups."  Both for cultural and economic reasons, many young people from ethnic-minority groups tend to take on adult responsibilities earlier, contributing to the family income and taking care of siblings, sometimes at the cost of slowing down their own schooling."
