They achieve this by building up high concentrations of glucose in their organs, which acts as a cryoprotectant to prevent their cells from shrinking or dying. This behavioral and structural adaptation helps them survive temperatures as low as -80°F, allowing them to continue to reproduce.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The fish-hook ant, otherwise known as Polyrhachis bihamata, has double fish hook protrusions growing out of their back, commonly used as a defense mechanism. Each are sharp enough to injure a determined predator. Not only does the adaptation pierce the skin, but also hooks into the threat, alerting the remainder of the colony in their hollowed out log. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Pandas have six "fingers" on each paw to help them eat bamboo more quickly and efficiently. And they have two opposable "thumbs" to hold bamboo while they eat.&nbsp;<br>Not many people know this, but pandas used to eat meat like their ancestors. However, a mutation turns their T1R1 gene, which is umami taste receptor, into a pseudo gene, and they constantly lost interest in meat. This is why pandas digestive system is built for a carnivore, though they don't like eating meat. And as a result, they can't get much energy and nutrients from bamboo, which let them to spend 12~16 hours a day eating.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>These masters of disguise do more than just blend in they can grow a realistic animal on their back. Even though they can do the normal camouflage like to a leaf, bark, or thorn it can grow a replica out of its back called a helmet of an ant (or other animals) like a tree ant that are notoriously hard to prey upon. They do all the details all the way to the spike that protrudes from the ant's back. By this adaptation, first off it can blend into the background and go undetected by predator's or it can grow an unappealing animal so that animals just won't want to eat it. This makes it so fit because it literally has a shield against predators&nbsp; they can literally look at them and think eww I don't want that.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
