In a second language classroom, a much more engaging lesson about food might look like this: Some vocabulary presented in a lecture, visual aids such as photos in a powerpoint or a sample menu from a restaurant, physical manipulatives such as real foods to apply the vocabulary to, and a corner of the room set up with tables where students can practice ordering food & serving food in a restaurant. Not only will this be more memorable, but it addresses a wide range of learning styles all in one lesson.
