The Slovak Republic is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It was established  on 1st January, 1993 by dividing of Czechoslovakia Republic.

Slovakia - it is beautiful nature, caves, rare therapeutic spa springs, medieval castles, cultural monuments, but also sacred places of pilgrimage, forests, stone sea, or our unique sheep cheese – this is our small country in the heart of Europe.

More than 40% of the area is covered with forest, which makes Slovakia one of the most forested countries in Europe. 

It is Slovakia where you can feel as a real explorer who is always able to discover something new. Include Slovakia in your tourist routes.

Slovaks are emotional nation. We experience our joys, successes, disappointments and sorrows with emotions. We are sincere, friendly, open, hearty, generous, but also touchy. 

Slovakia is a country of contrasts. It changes right in front of your eyes, yet everything and everywhere is nearby. It just takes a couple of hours to get from the Danubian Lowland to the Central European Highlands, still bodies of water are just at a stone's throw from turbulent river rapids. 

We are „forest“ nursery in a small village named Zbyňov. There is beautiful countryside around us, we spend a lot of time outdoors. We have two classes:

„Wild Mushrooms“: 3-4 year olds

„Squirrels“: 5-6 year olds

We participate in various competitions and projects, we like to explore new things and new people. We really love eTwinning project and children are enthusiastic, looking forward to the activities and new friends from other countries.

Christmas time is a special period for us and we have been preparing for it since November.  We have decorated the entire nursery and we have produced gifts for the Christmas program.

In accordance to our tradition, on 6th December usually  St. Nicholas visites our nursery, we prepare Christmas markets (sale of handmade things  and the Money goes for other activities at the nursery, trips atc.) and Christmas Party - Christmas program for parents and grandparents.

During the four weeks of Advent, people prepare themselves for the upcoming holidays. Preparation is a beautiful time associated with waiting for Jesus comming. Children and parents spend more time together, preparing mansions, bake Christmas cookies together, listen to Christmas carols, visiting family, write letters to Santa Claus, visit the Christmas markets.

24 th December -lt's Christmas day - it is a day of peace and family harmony - children watch Christmas tales, helping to prepare a Christmas dinner, they go on a joint walk.

Christmas Eve dinner: Our habbit is at first, put the  wallet and scales of a carp under the tablecloth (in order to be abuntant all the next year), then eat waffles with honey and garlic (in order to be healthy the whole next year), slicing the apple. Then we usually serve sour cabbage soup (soup of sour cabbage with prunes and mushrooms), fried carp (or other fish), potato salad. Before and after dinner the whole family pray together.

After dinner, the children go outside with their Dad to ignite sparklers  and then mom rings the bell and announce that Santa had already came. Children unwrappe gifts, listen to christmas carols. Then families usually go visit some close relatives, grandparents living close to swap presents.

1st and 2nd Christmas Day is associated with a visiting the church and close relatives. Everywhere reigns peace and joy.

New Year celebration is the same as everywhere -  noisy celebrations and fireworks.
