Something interesting about me? My brother is two months and a week older than me.

My wallpaper? This is a George lily that is finally flowering in my garden.

- Why Psychology?

Psychology has always been an extremely interesting topic for me. I love working with children and would like to be able to make an impact in the lives of our youth.

I do not get much time for it, but painting and being creative makes me so happy.

The 3 special people in my life. My husband, my son is 10 and my daughter is 5. Spending time with them and being outdoors is my absolute favourite.

*Why psychology?

To be brutally honest i am not entirely sure. However, i feel that i am a very empathic type of person. Being empathic makes me want to help others, problem solve for them.

The picture was taken just 2 weeks ago when i was visiting the UK. I am wearing the red jumper:)

I am very family oriented and try go visit my cousins as often as i can.

I want to help others and most of all I want to help children that needs to give outing on their emotions and feelings and I feel that some children lack the needed support structure without judgement and that is what I want to be for them.

I am doing Psychology because I feel like I have always had a gift and talent to read others, and feel deeply for them. I would love to nurture this talent of mine in order to professionally help others. I always used to do charity work in high school because it made me feel fulfilled to help others, especially children. An interesting fact about me is that I grew up on a wine farm and that I have recently after 22 years, quit the habit of biting my nails!

Why Psychology?

I'm an inquisitive individual who always asks, "Why? / Why not?". Thus, psychology has allowed me to explore these questions through various topics, contexts & research methods, which I LOVE!

I'm a Saffa, but I immigrated from China to Brazil during the pandemic, where I now live.

My wallpaper is of my child, Mei-Mei! She was found on the streets of São Paulo but has been with us for the last 2 years already. She's the love of my heart & brings so much joy to us with her crazy personality!

Why Psychology?

During COVID, it became very clear that, while I enjoyed helping people, I did not love the work I was doing. After some soul searching, I discovered my love for psychology, and so began my journey into this profession.

Something interesting about me

When I dabble in hobbies, I take them seriously! I've exhibited one of my paintings at a national art competition, briefly started up a slow fashion brand, and recently came third in a pole dance competition.

Excited to get to know you all!

I was always interested in psychology but did not initially study it. After my twin brother passed away suddenly, I realised the importance of receiving the correct support. Psychology has so much value and can change someone’s life. I am studying psychology so that one day I can be the person to help someone when they feel their entire life is turned upside down. In difficult times, we are in a room with closed windows, and I want to help the client to open the window so that light can shine in.

I love studying and gaining new knowledge. I have been studying for the past ten years. I love it!

Your current wallpaper or screensaver on your phone.

My screensaver is a picture of me and my husband. We were supposed to get married the weekend when the lockdown started. We eventually managed to do a small church ceremony in September with our families. I decided to wear a red dress, as we had to postpone the ‘big’ wedding for an entire year. I therefore had a red dress for the small wedding and a white dress for the ‘big’ wedding.

• Why Psychology?

  For as long as I know, I have been passionate about psychology; understanding human behaviour intrigued me even as a teenager- I would go to the library and spend my time reading books on the human mind! A while back, I found my diary from when I was 12 years old and it read "When I grow up I want to be a ciacologist" Haha - I didn't even know how to spell it correctly but I knew that is what I wanted!

• Something interesting about me? I am a highly sensitive person; I get overwhelmed quite easily but I also have a huge capacity for empathy and emotionally assisting others!

I am Diane. Welcome back. I am excited to venture into the last leg of my degree. I am 43 years old and have enjoyed studying again in this next chapter of my life.

Why Psychology

I have a love and compassion for helping people and hence embarked on this intriguing journey 4 years ago. And intriguing it has been. I have gained extensive knowledge, met remarkable people, and learned to be self-aware and empathetic. I pray that I can use my education to help people in the near future.

I have a beautiful family, with a grade 12 and a grade 7. I have recently resigned from my accounting profession, working at a private school for 20 years, to open my beauty franchise. Very exciting!

Why psychology

• I discovered psychology during my first year of university. It was one of my modules. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to change my degree and study psychology instead.

Something interesting is that I am in New Zeland but work for a SA company and I am a qualified manufacturing jeweller 💍.

I look forward to juggling time, learning and growing with you all.

I have always loved going to therapy myself and found it greatly impacted my life. I've also always been fascinated by human dynamics, relationships and why we are the way we are.

I am an actor and fitness instructor by profession, but in my free time, I like to DJ and occasionally DJ weddings, which I find so fun!

WHY PSYCHOLOGY?

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to change and affect people's circumstances and struggles in any helpful positive way I could. Psychology resonates with me deeply in how it explains human and pathological behaviour, and helps us as aspiring practitioners to differentiate between those in desperate crises and the average bad day

My life has been revolving around academics for the past two years, and what I found interesting is that I have probably had 10 or so evenings of deliberating whether it is worth it to continue this formidable academic journey :]

My current wallpaper is a picture of myself and my girlfriend of three years. She has been my support structure for the longest time and I owe a lot to her. She is on my wallpaper to remind me that there is always someone to have my back, even though it may feel like the world is turned against me.

I chose to study Psychology because I find every aspect of it fascinating, and I choose to become a psychologist so that I can help people who struggle with their mental health.

I am not really sure if it is all that interesting, but I am a South African living in the United States!

Where to begin? I love everything about psychology and I just always felt it was my purpose and reason for being here, life can be so hard and being there for people in time of need is just so special.

I am obsessed with whales and actually did marine biology for a while. If i could live in the ocean I probably would.

For reasons I can't quite explain, I strongly feel drawn to psychology. I do believe I'm meant to be in the mental health world. My journey has involved exposure to psychiatric patients and the complexities of the mental health field for several years. It's been a gradual process, but I had to follow my gut, which led me back to studying. That's why psychology.

I enjoy travelling, immersing myself in different cultures and experiences. It has broadened my perspective and enriched my life in countless ways.
