         <title>Jessica&#39;s Anonymous Poem Competitions for Peer-Editing</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>To help students open up to each other and feel comfortable peer-editing, I have students give feedback to each other anonymously after the first draft of their response poems. I have students email me their poems typed, then I format them so they are all the same format and remove the names so that only I know who wrote each poem. I staple these poems together in a packet and give them to each student. <br><br>Students must write their name on the packet and give 3 pieces of constructive criticism to each poem in the packet. Students write and annotate directly onto the poems. They also have to choose their top 2 poems from the packet and write why those poems were their favorites. Afterward, students enjoy reading each other's feedback and having their poems selected by other classmates as their favorites.</div>]]></description>

After a few whole-class meditations, I do not make it mandatory anymore. Rather, I ask students if they want to meditate each day.          <description><![CDATA[<div>All students stand in a circle and one student is selected to be the first story teller. The students will engage in telling a story with each student in the circle adding a detail to the story. The first student starts with a story frame such as: "When I go to Alaska, I make sure I bring...a beanie". <br><br>Then, the student to their right will add an item to the list by repeating what the previous student said and adding the second item such as  "a jacket". <br><br>All the students will add an item and each student must repeat what the previous students added to the list. By the end of the presentation, the list will be as long as the number of students that were in the circle. </div>]]></description>
