Our school is generally accepting of different religious backgrounds, including Muslim students. However, there aren’t any specific spaces for prayer or accommodations for Islamic practices. While there isn’t any outright anti-Muslim messaging, the Muslim population is very small and not very visible. Christianity tends to be normalized in the way adults speak and in the focus of certain discussions, which might unintentionally make it harder for students of other religions to feel fully included.

I do not feel that the school supports the Muslim community in specific though we have off for some Muslim holidays and have shown Muslim religion in read alouds such as The Proudest Blue

My school has a Muslim alliance club and it's a significant population in our school. The Muslim alliance club is very involved and they're great kids.

No proof that I Have seen, but I don't think they are against them

The school does not try to change the way the students dress even though the school has a uniform policy.

That's a good question. We have a few students. Many of us- teachers- are aware of their religious beliefs and honor their holidays. Another teacher and I incorporated some readings about Muslim characters and tried to integrate them as much as possible. I ask during class about their culture and I like to highlight the similarities between their customs and L.A customs.

The school I am currently in does not have a large population of Muslims so I don't see much celebrating. However, in a school I worked at in the Bronx they were very big, During fasting they provided a space for the kids to sit and not have to join lunch, they also provided time for prayer.

Yes, they are allowed time for prayer and accommodated to stay upstairs from lunch during Ramadan. They are not however represented in other ways in the school, such as curriculum.

I don't think so but then again my school mainly serves newcomers from latin america (who are predominately catholics).

My schools is very inclusive, of not only the Muslim community but all communities represented. We have cultural days, celebrate holidays through decorations, and make space for kids to pray if needed.
