         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. Theme: what is the message?<br>2. The illustrations are supportive and enhance the meaning of the book.<br>3. Illustrations add to the development of the characters.<br>4. The mood and tone are spoken in the illustrations.<br>5. Physical attributes are important:</div><ul><li>Cover-when you take off the book jacket, does the hard cover match?</li><li>End papers-do the end papers match the book or are they plain</li><li>Title page-does it provide information about the text?</li><li>Binding-is it sturdy to withhold many readings ( library binding will make the book last longer)</li><li>Size/spacing of the pictures</li><li>Text placement, font, and typeface</li><li>Spine-does it have the title and author on it?</li><li>Gutter-do the pages flow together?</li><li>Quality paper-is it sturdy paper so that it can last?</li></ul><div>6. Depend on quality reviews written by educators and well-trained librarians. </div><div><br></div>]]></description>
