Today I learned that, personally, art holds little emotional expression for me.

To be honest, I found the building very impressive – especially the way art is exhibited and brought to life there.

It’s absolutely fascinating to see how differently people express themselves and to observe how they present their emotions through art.

Additionally, the contrast between Saint-Anne and Pointe-à-Pitre was quite extreme, especially in terms of architecture.

Visiting the art center in Point a Pitre today made me think about the universal human need to express through art . And no matter if you exhibit your work in some fancy art gallery or in a dilapidated building the urge is the same...Also it made me sad to think that very soon most of the art we saw today will be lost forever and nothing can be done to prevent that. Hovever, I keep my fingers crossed for the young artists of Guadeloupe hoping that one day their art will get a chance to be recognised and appreciated.

The ruined building of the art centre just in the middle of the city was really symbolic. First, I thought it was abandoned. But was it so?

Artists working there have a special bound with this place and the history of Guadeloupe. I could see it in their works of art. It makes me believe that you are never lonely or left to your own devices if you are in a group of people who you share your interests with, do things together, have dreams to realise. What really counts is the sense of belonging.

My visit to the Art Centre made a big impression on me. Being there, I felt, in equal measure: curiosity and intrigued by the work of the young people, as well as sadness, shock and disbelief that this is the only place in the city where they can develop their talents. I admire them for not giving up, despite the hopeless situation.

Today I saw a huge desire to express and splash out emotions, a desire to create something that unites people. This taught me to always be true to myself and my desires, to look for opportunities to do what you love, even if everything around is against it. I realized that both creating art and observing it is more pleasant for me alone, it is easier to tune in to the thought.

The art centre was not like any other art centre I saw before. Which was not a bad thing. I like that there were no rigid rules. Everyone could do it's own thing,which is somerhing you rarely see !

Today I‘ve learned that art isn‘t always about the artist. For me, the whole building was an act of art. Every room, every creation is forming this unique piece of art. I could also see and feel the emotion of some painter in their paintings.

Saturday!
Time to visit the art gallery, do some shopping, and do some sightseeing in Pointe-à-Pitre.
Art Gallery?
I was initially completely shocked by the shabby, unclean surroundings of the gallery, situated almost in the city centre. I have visited many galleries in Europe and Asia, so I was confused, as the outside of the gallery does not reflect what I was taught about art in school and what I have seen around the world — that art is something beautiful. Art’s purpose is to create or shape a part of the aesthetic value.

These days, we have had lots of discussions about the fact that France does not have an ear for the things that the locals in Guadeloupe want to realize, build, or create.

There were quite a few people in the gallery. They probably have some friends, and their friends probably have some friends too. Wouldn’t it be nice if they joined forces, picked up a broom, and swept the interior of the gallery? Wouldn’t it be nice if they picked up a shovel and a rake and tidied up the gallery’s surroundings? Such an act does not require money. It only requires goodwill, a desire to improve things, a feeling of belonging, and a bit of love for art.

I might be wrong, though. The untidiness around the gallery could be a metaphor for the poor political, social, and cultural conditions on this island.

The interior of the gallery, on the other hand, displayed some gorgeous paintings, expressing the painter’s emotions, view of the environment, and relationship with the world.

Unfortunately, I did not spend a lot of time in the building. I found the scent of something burning and the smell of weed on the ground floor to be very disturbing.

For all the artists and art lovers, I wish that the conditions improve in the future. There is a saying in Slovene: “Od besed k dejanjem” — From words to actions!

The small city itself is lovely — I like the fact that there are no tall buildings and that the houses are very colorful, which is true also of our coastal towns in Slovenia.

“After building the bridge between Europe and the Caribbean,” I was impressed by the young breakdancers flaunting their skills in public.

Today I learned that art doesn't have to take place in a museum. A ruin can hold hidden stories and unexpected beauty. The artists are very open and welcome every visitor warmly.

The most beautiful moment of my visit to the Museum was when I saw that photograph. As soon as my eyes met it, my heart tightened: in an instant, it brought me back to the brightest memory of my life.

Feeling a new life grow and live inside me... there is no emotion more powerful, more tender. It was as if that photo awakened a distant heartbeat, a sound that only I can recognize.

I relived that miracle: I was no longer just a spectator, but a mother carrying the most profound and wonderful secret within herself.

And in that moment, between art and memory, I smiled. Because I realized that certain moments never truly end—they stay with us, ready to return with the power of an image.
