Samba is an area I have never really been introduced too so going into this weeks lesson I was thinking in a clear mindset and ready to test my self and learn how some basic concepts. I feel like this week I had more confidence in the concept we were learning, due to my common use of the five stroke roll I had a good understanding of rolls and how to achieve a great sound when using them in my playing.

I think this idea was great and I really enjoyed playing it, my only criticism is that it felt way to fast for the vocals on the track making it feel rushed.

I felt confident about the concept when going into my class, as I have researched and looked at linear grooves in the past as it has been a Greg interest of mine. Due to the drummer abe Cunningham using linear fills and grooves I went into a mindset of thinking about his playing and how it can make sense in my head when relating the two whilst Pete was showing me, I feel this worked greatly as I was able to slip into the feel of the grooves really smoothly and I felt as if the rhythm and flow of the groves were really tight. I really was exited for this weeks topic as polyrhythms are a great interest of mine as I used to write math rock music with a close friend where we would use polyrhythms extremely frequently. when attending this class I had a little fear coming into the class, this is due to me thinking that I knew the rhythms but turns out they were completely something else. We reworked the structure to make it more easy to keep up with and really toned it down during the verses and made it slightly louder in the choruses.
