A calotype photograph was invented by Willian Henry Fod Talbot in the 1840s. It was recognizable for its soft texture, and lack of detail. This allowed for an emphasis on tone. These images were the first ever to have a negative to positive image process. A piece of paper was doused in chemicals allowing it to become light sensitive, then placed inside the camera. This recorded a negative image on the paper before exposure to light. However, this cameras focusing system was adapted by taking three distinct zones (infinity, 3 meters, and 1.1 meters) and figuring out which one gave an image the best focus. Taking a photo on a Polaroid camera was an intimate experience, and has captured memories instantly, changing the world of photography forever.

Interestingly, Iraqi scientist Ibn Al-Haytham made mention of a camera obscura in his Book of Optics in 1021, and is also credited as one of the first inventors of the camera obscura. Johan Zahn designed the first camera that was smaller and more portable than the original camera obscuras in 1685, but his ideas hadn’t come to light until the 1800s. In 1825, Joseph Nicephore Niepce made the first camera for photography with a process called heliography. Although, the images he took weren’t permanent. In 1837, Louis Daguerre made the first “daguerreotypes”, which were photographs made using salt solution and silver coated plates. Daguerre and Niepce collaborated on how to make the images permanent until Niepce’s death. Alphonse Giroux was the first to manufacture the first commercial daguerreotype camera. Ultimately, Daguerre is considered the first to invent practical photography, but not without help from all of the inventors that came before him.

The first digital camera was patented in 1978, and was called the electronic still camera. The camera never saw the light of day. Only when it was too late did Kodak start to embrace the digital camera. Now, it is used throughout the world, especially throughout the 2000s, and has advanced in technology and has seen a recent renaissance in the 2020s.

This worked with a home computer via a serial cable, the name was the Apple QuickTake 100 camera. there were a couple of other ones such as the Kodak DC40 camera (March 28, 1995), the Casio QV-11 with LCD monitor (late 1995), and Sony's Cyber-Shot Digital Still Camera (1996). It was based on a scientific colour theory about mixing red, green, and blue light which are primary colours of light. That theory was discovered in 1860’s by James clerk Maxwell. A number of people were credited for discovering colour photography including Clerk Maxwell, Thomas Sutton, Abel Niépce de Saint-Victor, and Louis and Auguste Lumière. 
The Lumière brothers were the first to put a colour photographing process on the market in 1907. Abel discovered an improved heliographic technique that allowed photographs to be translated into a printing plate.
