Balboa was born in Jerez de los caballeros, Mexico. In 1513 balboa was the first to spot the Pacific Ocean, form the mountaintop in panama. Balboa dreams: to be a famous explorer and to be an Olympic fencing champion. Following the discovery of Christopher Columbus in 1492. Balboa joined an expedition to South America. One year later balboa found himself on an islands of Hispaniola trying without success to make a living as a farmer. Several years later in 1510, Balboa became an acting governor for Darien. In 1511 Indians told him where to find gold they told this land was across the mountains near the great sea. In early September 1513 balboa lead an expedition from Darien. 190 Spanish followers were forced to take a difficult route. Balboa found the great sea he had logged to sea: the Pacific Ocean! Sadly, balboa was to only a few more years. A jealous rival falsely accused balboa was treason to the tree to the king, and in January 1519 he was sentenced to death.
