In this community, families begin when a man or a woman applies for a partner. A special committee chooses a match for them. Once paired, the couple must live together and show they are compatible for three years before they can apply to receive a child.

Children are not born into families. Instead, they are born in special places called Birthing Centers by women known as Birthmothers. After birth, the babies are cared for in a Nurturing Center until December of that year. Then, they are placed with a family chosen by the committee.

Each family is allowed to have one boy and one girl. When the children grow up and leave home, the parents also move out. They go to live with other adults who no longer have children at home, and they are no longer involved in their children's lives.

So overall, Jonas' community are treated the same and the only individuality is their numbers.

However holding memories is a crucial thing in the daily life, but in my opinion I say that everyone should hold memories instead of relying on others(The Giver and Jonas).

In the ceremony of twelve Jonas's name gets skipped over and he feel scared because he thinks he might have done something wrong but at the end the elder reveals that she skipped over Jonas for a reason because he has become the new receiver of memory.

You don't chose your own partner you apply for one and it could take a month or a year to get matched. Once the couple has shown that they have been compatible for three years they are permitted to apply for a child and when they have both of their children they have a full family unit.

Security in this society is a critical and valued topic, as they don't let the 12's pick their job or role in the community, they keep all the memories and colours a secret from the people and lastly they keep the release a private.

This shows that they keep secrets and doesn't let the community have a right or say.

This all works if you tell the truth, so in the end Honesty in the community is high ranked and important concept used in society

Our family is a group of people ( two parents chosen by themself) and however many children who come from the same blood.

In comparison a family in Jonas' community is controlled by the Elderly completely, meaning no freedom.

So people are scared to express themselves, even simply having a certain haircut at a certain age might get you in trouble or riding a bike before 9 ect.

Security:the concept of security is presented as a complex and potentially adangerous pursuit.

The community is very secure and kept away from danger they value their people's security over their freedom.
