At last, I met the group. They are students at a private institute of English and it is a small group of five children. They are between five to six years old and their level of English is beginner.
When they entered the classroom, they looked at me as saying 'Who is she?', so the teacher explained them that I was there to meet them because during some classes I will be their teacher. I must say that their faces did not show happiness at all.
The group was working with clothes. They also worked with stickers, sang a song and created a poster by wearing people.
They worked well and participated when necessary, but they are very restless and noisy kids when they have nothing to do.
One important aspect from this institute is that at the moment there is a young woman from the USA who is there as an intern student who helps students with oral activities, and the children really enjoy learning from her.
Now, I will wait very anxious for next Wednesday to start my practicum experiences...

During my observation class, I could see that puppets are part of their daily routine.
After singing the usual 'Hello' song, the teacher takes her puppet and asks students to do so, and they ask one another questions like 'What's your name?' and 'How are you today?'.
Children loves this moment and they have fun during it. So, I decided to have my own puppet.. Here is 'Lola', the cow....

She understands everything and she also participates if necessary. But as the teacher recommended me, some activities must be adapted for her possibilities as well as helping her in those activities that require her to cut and paste.
Fortunately, her peers respect her and also help her if necessary.

As these students usually respond to bilingual orders, it was really difficult for me that they understood what I was saying. However, I comprehended the importance of using gestures, body language and visual aids in order to help students understand instructions and the target language.
Another aspect I must take into account for my following lessons, is the limited space in the classroom as well as the kind of activities I plan for the kids, specially for the girl with a motor disability. I found out that painting is not the best option for her, and also to change places to perform a task, because both are time-consuming.
As I said before this first lesson was not perfect, but I enjoyed it and I learned a lot of things that will help me improve my future practicum lessons.

May 14th, 2018
The day arrived and despite of not being what I expected, it has been a wonderful experience.
We started the lesson with the usual 'Hello' song. I presented 'Lola, the cow', and children liked it. As they were working with clothes, I decided to use realia by carrying a bag with some clothes inside in order to present the target language and revise learned items. Children responded well to the activity, but I had to help them a lot to understand what I was saying. Here, I comprehended the importance of using body language, gestures, and visual aids in this practicum period.
Then, kids did worksheets and we also joined pictures together to make a puzzle that was hung on the classroom wall. For the closure stage, I chose a song about clothes and colours. I think they liked it.
Here, there some of the materials I used in this first lesson..

May 16th, 2018
This time things went better..
Kids became familiar with me so they did not look at me weirdly. Besides, I could feel children's enjoyment during this second lesson because they liked the activities I had planned for them.
On this occasion, I decided to introduce the winter and summer seasons related to clothes they were working on. We watched and mimed the seasons song at the warm-up stage. Then, we did worksheets and played a game (they called it 'la búsqueda del tesoro') in which they had to find different clothes previously hidden in the room.
For the end, we created a poster together by sticking and counting the clothes they had ound out before.
You can see below some of the materials I used in this lesson..

These kids are really noisy and restless, but they work very well when the activities are well planned. The task of looking for clothes around the room was a great activity. They were excited and happy. They really enjoyed it so I consider it was a good moment for them, as well as for me because I could understand how important is to put kids in action and let them learn by themselves. It was a very important moment during my lessons, and I became aware of that when they gave me a huge kiss before going home as saying "I enjoyed your class, thanks.." And my heart exploded with joy :)

May 17th, 2018
The end came, and I still felt a bit nervous and anxious. However, I knew that I had to enjoy a lot that day because it would be the last one from my practicum experience as a kindergarten teacher, and I did it!
As students are going to start a new book, the teacher suggested me work with some activities from it. So, we watched a short story in which the granny brought children some bags with new clothes. Then, we acted the story, so I carried some bags with clothes for this role play activity. They also did worksheets and a listening activity in which they used a computer to listen an audio and then match with the correct picture.
I think kids really liked the activities as well as I did. It was a good lesson. Kids worked very well, and I think we all enjoyed this last step.
In appreciation for children's good job, for their love and predisposition, I brought to the class some presents.. Kids loved them and the teacher too..

It has been many days of hard work. I have never worked with little kids before, so I understand that it requires too much planning. However, it was a great experience, and the rewards were invaluable.
Children's faces of happiness and enjoyment were the best things I take from these practicum experiences. The moments when they started looking at me as someone they knew, when they went home after having fun with me, and also when they kissed and gave me lovely hugs, I understood everything. They made me feel so happy, and I hope the same for them..
Here, a picture of our last lesson..
