Then they thought Satan was alive and well and was walking the earth. They believed that a witch would become ill and from being affected with witchcraft. But during this time period a lot of people got sick from the new world and a lot of bad things were happening to them. Because you never knew if you were chosen or not you put on an act and have anxiety plus very judgmental to who is saved and who is not. Most of the time they just faked it. This caused a lot of them to start to accuse each other and making them go crazy.

They were plain people who lives were based on god. Women were frowned upon and had a boring life. These puritans believed that the devil was walking among us and recruiting people. The puritans were already paranoid because they did not know who god has saved. Everything bad was because of witches and warlocks. So because of the paranoia the started to accused the people who they thought were witches.
