During the first Creathon lesson, we created a presentation answering five key questions on the theme of Waste to Wealth, comparing perspectives from Kazakhstan and the Netherlands. We explored major waste challenges, upcycling examples, opportunities for local industries, creative ideas to turn waste into value, and the level of discussion around circular economy initiatives in each country. Finally, we proposed our own solution: a new fashion line made from upcycled clothing materials

W2W Idea: Upcycled Fashion Line

We proposed an innovative solution to tackle textile waste by creating a new fashion line from discarded clothing. The process involves:

Collecting old or damaged garments.
Disassembling them to salvage high-quality fabrics and reusable components (sleeves, collars, zippers, unique prints, etc.).
Combining these materials into fresh, stylish, and functional designs.

Why?
The fashion industry generates massive textile waste, especially with fast fashion trends. Many clothes are thrown away due to minor damage, even if most of the fabric is still usable. Our approach reduces waste while promoting sustainable and creative fashion.

Impact:

Reduces landfill waste.
Gives old clothes a second life.
Encourages eco-conscious consumer habits.
