The topic for this week:

SURAH AL-HASHR (18-24)

3 pillars of iman

From the teachings of Surah Al-Hashr, I have learned the vital importance of preparing for the afterlife through good deeds and spiritual awareness. Maintaining a strong connection with Allah, recognizing His attributes, and following the guidance of the Qur'an are essential for living a righteous life. The pillars of iman reinforce the foundation of my faith, reminding me of the significance of belief in Allah, His angels, and the divine scriptures. This understanding encourages me to act with purpose, seek knowledge, and strive for goodness in all aspects of my life.

The three pillars of iman (faith) are:

Belief in Allah: Acknowledging Allah as the Creator and Sustainer, deserving of worship. This belief is divided into:

Tawhid Rububiyyah: Recognizing Allah's lordship.

Tawhid Uluhiyyah: Affirming that only Allah is worthy of worship.

Tawhid Asma' wa Sifat: Accepting Allah’s names and attributes.

Belief in Angels: Understanding that angels are obedient messengers of Allah who watch over our actions and record them for the Day of Judgment.

Belief in Scriptures: Accepting divine revelations given to prophets, which guide humanity toward righteousness and are interconnected with the beliefs in Allah and angels, forming a solid foundation for Islamic teachings.

Incorporating these lessons into my life can lead to personal growth, greater spiritual fulfillment, and a stronger sense of purpose. They encourage me to act with intention, remain mindful of my choices, and cultivate a life rooted in faith and righteousness. This understanding not only impacts my personal journey but also influences how I interact with others, fostering a community of compassion and support.

For this week, the topic i learned were:

Belief in Rasul and Anbiya

Belief in hereafter

Belief in Qada' and Qadar

From my study of the belief in messengers (Rasul), I have learned that Allah sent prophets to every nation with a unified message: the importance of exclusive worship of Him (Tawhid). Accepting all messengers as truthful and virtuous is essential for true faith. I understand that obeying a prophet, particularly Prophet Muhammad (SAW), is akin to obeying Allah. This teaches me the significance of recognizing the unity of the divine message and encourages me to deepen my worship and adherence to the guidance provided through these messengers.

Belief in the Hereafter, as the fifth pillar of Islamic faith, is crucial for true belief. It encompasses the end of this world, resurrection, accountability, and the concepts of reward and punishment. This understanding influences a Muslim's actions, motivating them to live righteously in preparation for eternal outcomes.

From this, I learn the importance of being mindful of my actions, knowing they will be judged in the hereafter. This belief instills a sense of responsibility and encourages me to strive for goodness, ultimately guiding my behavior and choices in life.

Believing in the Hereafter encourages me to live a more responsible and purposeful life. It reminds me that my actions have consequences, motivating me to do good, seek forgiveness, and strive for righteousness. This belief fosters hope and accountability, helping me to focus on what truly matters in life and to treat others with kindness and respect, knowing that I will ultimately be judged for my choices.

The topic for this week:

THE CONCEPT OF IHSAN AND ITS RELATION TO ISLAMIC ESCHATOLOGY

The word "Ihsan" is mentioned 211 times in the Quran, highlighting its significance in Islamic teachings. There are three main characteristics of al-Muhsin (those who embody Ihsan):

Doing Good: Ihsan means performing acts of kindness towards others.

The Best Kindness: Striving to provide goodness to the best of one’s ability.

For the Sake of Allah: Carrying out all acts of kindness with a sincere intention for Allah SWT.

From this, I learn that Ihsan is not just about performing good deeds; it also involves having the right intention and striving to do one's best. This teaches me the importance of being mindful of my actions and motivations, encouraging me to consistently seek to do good for others while aiming for Allah's pleasure.

The Hadith of Jibril outlines the essential components of Islamic faith, including Islam (submission), Iman (faith), and Ihsan (excellence in worship). It emphasizes that true worship involves sincerity and striving for perfection in one’s actions, as well as an awareness of Allah’s presence.

From this Hadith, I learn that Islam encompasses both actions and intentions. It reminds me to not only fulfill my religious obligations but also to strive for excellence in my worship and to maintain a conscious connection with Allah in all aspects of life.

Accusation on hikmah

1. Purpose of Worship in Islam

Worship in Islam is not just a physical act but a means of spiritual growth and purification. It aims to bring believers closer to Allah, purify the heart, and strengthen one’s character.

2. Understanding the Wisdom Behind Acts of Worship

Each act of worship, like Salah, Zakat, and fasting, has profound wisdom. For example, Salah is a way to seek forgiveness and maintain constant remembrance of Allah, while fasting teaches self-control and empathy for the less fortunate.

3. Wisdom in Developing a Relationship with Allah

True worship is about sincerity (ikhlas). Hikmah allows a believer to approach worship with the correct intention, recognizing that worship is a pathway to strengthening their relationship with Allah.

In the Hadith of Jibril, Jibril asks the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), "What is Iman?" and the Prophet (SAW) responds with the six pillars of faith. Understanding these pillars through hikmah allows worship to become more meaningful. Belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Day of Judgment, and predestination — these beliefs provide the foundation for sincere worship, as the worshiper recognizes the significance of these aspects in every act of worship.

Jibril then asks, "What is Ihsan?" The Prophet (SAW) replies, "It is to worship Allah as though you see Him, and if you do not see Him, know that He sees you." This description points to worship with full awareness and sincerity. Hikmah in worship involves striving for Ihsan—performing acts of worship with complete focus and devotion, as if standing in the presence of Allah. This understanding enhances the spiritual reward and impact of the worship.

From my usrah experience, I gained a deeper understanding of Islamic teachings and values, which helped me strengthen my faith and develop a more positive outlook on life. The group discussions encouraged me to reflect on my actions and strive for self-improvement while fostering a sense of community and belonging. Overall this is a fun activity that i can do and my facilitators is a very kind an energetic person. However, one area of improvement could be to manage the session duration more effectively, as sometimes the talks felt a bit lengthy. Keeping the discussions concise and focused would help maintain participants' attention and make the sessions more engaging and impactful.
