To have a more in-depth conversation about your experience as a transgender person with your cisgender girlfriend,

focus on open communication, active listening, feeling safe to share your feelings, and ask her what she needs from you in terms of communication and supporting you deeper. Since she is already accepting and supportive, you can build on that trust by being honest, patient, and clear about your needs and desires for the relationship as your gender identity is part of your life. It is a beautiful thing to be vulnerable and open with our partner, especially when they are curious as how you experience the world.

- Em

Adjusting to polyamrory after trauma with a previous poly partner

I've been identifying as polyamorous for the last couple of years at this point and it's mostly been great. Many of my ex partners i still consider my friends.

However, one of my first polyamorous relationships was very toxic and in a similar format to where I'm at with my partner and his queer platonic partner right now (both dating the same person but platonic on our side). I had to essentially fight with the other partner just to spend time with them and it was a very not good situation all around.

This has made my relationship with my current partner and his partner really tense. I get anxious and text for reassurance a lot and, while he's happy to oblige, he can't do that 24/7. It's hard to calm myself when I think he's ignoring me, though.

His partner's a great person, also , but occasionally i get very negative thoughts— big ones are about my partner leaving me for him, no matter how much he assures me otherwise.

it just sucks because being poly is a huge part of my identity, and one bad relationship has made me distrustful of my partner. I love him, though, and I'm working on it every day.
