One of my favorite places was Arches National Park in Utah. It was absolutey breath taking and a fun adventure. I highly recommend if you are heading out West in the near future! It is a coastal community that has grown quite a bit over the years. An easy hike I enjoy is the Ellisville State Harbor Park trail. It starts off winding through the woods and then you come to the beach. It's a rocky beach so not the best for swimming, but depending on the tide you can sometimes see seals and Plymouth is now seeing more whales too. It's fun for an afternoon picnic with family or friends. This is a picture of my family in Guatemala (this picture was taken at Esquipulas). This was a special trip because it was the first time I was able to see where my husband grew up. We went in 2021 and got COVID while traveling so ended up staying 3 weeks! Our kids attended school on zoom and learned so much "outside of school."

I grew up in Virginia and looking forward to heading back down this summer to visit family and friends.

My grandmother lives in Dennis and it is great to spend time with family, lounge on the beach, and do some ocean activities! All but my dad (who gets sea sick) enjoy our annual deep sea fishing day. Every year we camp on the Saco, which is an amazingly fun "lazy river" float, but last year we were in NH instead of Maine and decided to make a trip to Diana's Baths (in Bartlett NH). It was SO cool, I highly recommend it. Despite attempts to get passes months in advance of our vacation last summer, we could only secure walk-in tickets and had to walk miles along a winding island road to get there. This magical place did not disappoint. With an endangered monk seal dozing nearby we watched the sun sink into the Pacific. Flowers are in bloom during August so it makes for a great end of summer daytrip. Remember to bring your camera! They also have a farmstand with fresh fruits, veggies, and baked goods from local farms and businesses.

From meeting the sled dogs, to flying an antique plane over Denali, to hiking, kayaking, panning for gold, cruising to the glaciers and sampling fun foods such as reindeer sausage and caribou steak, the whole trip was one adventure after the next. On top of all that, the scenery and wildlife was pretty spectacular!

One of our favorite local spots for pinball during the summer is Funspot in Laconia, NH. They are the largest arcade in the world and one of the only places that still has a large number of vintage arcade games. Funspot is great for all ages. In addition to an arcade there is a bowling alley, indoor mini golf course, and bingo hall. There is even an entire section dedicated to young children's games and rides! Don't forget to get an ice cream before you leave : )

Laconia, NH is famous for its Motorcycle Week each year. This year it will be 6/10-18. One year, I bid and won two quad packs to go skiing. Another year, I won 12 park hopper passes to Disney World as a silent auction. This past year, I won two photo sessions, museum memberships, and a group Bhangra class. The same year I won ski quad packs (which I had to give away because my children were too little and they hate the cold), I also got tickets to Bromley Mountain. It is a ski spot, but during the summer, they have mini golf, a long slide (you have to take a ski lift to get up there), and other fun and games. I really enjoyed it during the pandemic as we were outdoors and there were so few people there. If you're ever in the area, stop by. There is thermal activity with hot springs and even a hot pocket in the ocean to enjoy. That excursion was my absolute favorite! We visited this lighthouse as well as Owl's Head and the Rockland Breakwater. One day we took the ferry over to Monhegan Island. Harvard Alpaca Ranch is small but gives free tours that you can sign up for online (although they ask for donations or a purchase in their very nice shop). The tours include going in with the alpacas and getting to interact with them. They are a friendly group! The owners of the ranch, Matt and Amy, are also super nice people.

We saw an American Eagle fly overhead as we drove in (with lunch in its talons), and had interesting and fun hikes all week long. White water rafting, horse back riding and walking on the glacier are on our list this year!

I'll run a total of about eight miles and swim two, split into various distances that traverse multiple islands in the bay. I'm totally pumped for the race and to spend the weekend with some of my best friends (also racing!). I'll also spend lots of time with my kids watching their summer swim league meets and on the Cape enjoying the ocean and time with family.

I can't say if I recommend a SwimRun race yet, but I'll happily report back after!
