Theory 1: Sepsis

According to 5.1.1 Autopsy report, it was found that Anna had bacteria serratia marcescens along with having UTI. (Urinary Tract Infection) In this case, the UTI that she has can result into Sepsis. In the previous 3.1.2 Autopsy Report, it stated that she complained about her difficulties in breathing, and a faster heart beat than usual. Difficulties in breathe, and fast heart beat, are two common symptoms of Sepsis. One theory that can be assumed is, she could have possible died by going into septic shock.

Theory 2: ventricular tachycardia

According to the 4.2.1 Medical History, it was found that she had a ventricular tachycardia which can result into a ventricular fibrillation if it is untreated. In the 4.1.2 Autopsy Report, it stated that there was a stent present in Annas left anterior descending coronary artery. This also may have caused tachycardia. A tachycardia is resulted when the heart beats too fast, while the ventricles are not able to pump blood efficiently, which is also seen in Annas electrocardiogram (EKG) in 4.2.1 Autopsy Report. If ventricular fibrillation occurs it may lead to death. In fact, ventricular fibrillation is known to be the main cause of cardiac death.

According to 3.2.2 Medical History, it was found that Anna had a rapid heart beat, difficulties breathing, pale skin, lips, and nails. All of these symptoms are symptoms for splenic sequestration. Splenic sequestration is a problem with the spleen that can occur in individuals who have sickle cell disease. Although, from 3.1.2 Medical History, it shows that her spleen was not normal.

According to 4.1.2 Autopsy Report, it stated that a stent was present in the left anterior descending coronary artery, which I can assume was due to plaque. In 4.1.2, it was also stated that she has narrowing in her cerebral arteries and renal. This narrowing is evidence of atherosclerosis. These symptoms could have lead Anna to having CAD (coronary heart disease) which is caused by the narrowing of arteries, and restricted blood flow. Another symptom that can be supported that she may have had Coronary Heart Disease is her chest pains. (3.1.2 Medical History) This can lead into a heart attack, or even a cardiac arrest.

According to 3.2.1 Medical History, Anna complained about having chest pains, difficulty breathing, and lastly she had a fever. These symptoms are proven to be symptoms of Acute Chest Syndrome. In the results from Anna's Toxicology results from 3.1.1, there was found hydroxyurea found in her blood. Hydroxyurea is a medicated drug that Anna took, where it states in her sickle cell diary. Acute chest syndrome can lead to death.
