Creedence Clearwater Revival was an American rock band in the 1960's and 70's. Their songs contained political and social lyrics about topics including the Vietnam War. They created protest music out of anger. The music to was express their feelings towards the drafting system and war itself. The writer of this song was drafted and he wrote it out of confusion as to why he had to fight in the war, making him a dove(person who was against the war and wanted it to end).

This is a picture of a group of soldiers during war. This picture shows the message of the song with the lyrics "Some folks are born made to wave the flag. Ohh they're red, white, and blue. And when the band plays "Hail to the chief". This lyric is referring to the soldiers that wanted to serve in the war and who were actually fit for the part. The song continues on to say "It ain't me, it ain't me, I aint no fortunate son" which refers to the fact that the writer of the song was drafted and had no say in it.

This is a picture of President Nixon with his 2 daughters and wife. This picture captures the message because in the song, there is a line that says "Some folks are born silver spoon in hand". This is an expression referring to the people that inherited weath(were born into a wealthy family). People who were born into wealth were not drafted, while the lower class was.

This is a picture of a protest about the drafting system. This song captures the message of the song with the lyrics "It ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no military son, it ain't me, it ain't me, I ain't no fortunate one". This is referring to how the writer of the song got drafted, even though he didn't want to. Many people thought it was unfair to be drafted at the age of 18, but not be able to vote until 21. Because of this, they protested and some even were known as "draft dodgers" because they would fake illnesses or even leave the country to aoid the draft.

This song addresses social issues because it is protesting the war. It was written to show the unfairness within it and express the opinions of a dove's(person who opposed the war)perspective.
