All of these reasons create a death trap to coral and coral reefs. Coral has been declining and it is especially unfavorable as coral is a keystone species. Coral is something that every animal in the coral reef needs.

Organisms that are being threatened are; turtles, saltwater crocodiles, dugong, whales, coral, and multiple different types of fish. More specifically endangered turtles are: loggerhead turtles, green turtles, hawksbill turtles, and leatherback turtles. Endangered whales can include; humpback whale, Bryde's whale, and the Sei whale. Currently there are 22 different types of coral that are endangered in the Great Barrier Reef.

If the number of coral is to decline it will create a domino effect; the number of species that the reef can support declines, and local extinctions can occur.
