“The movement is a rhythm to us”

“Freedom is like religion to us”

"Justice is juxtapositionin' us"

This is how they explain it to others, the fact that it feels like religion to them shows that they should be allowed to feel that way because religion was allowed no matter what in some places at that time and if someone believed in something else other than that, they were not put in a separate place. They were allowed to be around them.

This song was used to explain how the colored people saw how they were being treated at these times. They felt as if they were something different then whites and felt that they didn't belong in the same word as whites. Common uses examples like the Selma march and MLK jr. march. He also uses Jesus as an example trying to make the connection on how he got his own crown in front of a big crowd. He talks about how when shots were shot, they dropped to the ground out of fear.
