The sculptor Puget created "St. Sebastion" which became one of the most important statues he had made in Genoa including the other work "The Blessed Alessandro Sauli as St. Augustine". These works of art were made to decorate the niches in the crossing piers of S. Maria di Carigano, Genoa for the Saui family. In Pierre's sculptures, he displays the figures to have a more intense expression on their faces and body. In St. Sebastion, his pose is at a diagonal angle and he is falling on the plane of the piece which creates a sense of movement in the sculpture.

Puget created the 'Milo of Crotona' in 1671-84. Before he made the piece he was in Toulon in charge of a sculpture workshop at a naval shipyard. This work was known as the invention of the French Baroque and is known to be one of Pierre's remarkable sculptures. When he was in the dockyards at Toulon he found two abandoned pieces of white marble and used that to create the 'Milo of Crotona'. Milo was known for his great strength and Puget shows this by having Milosfingers caught on the tree trunk because he was trying to break the tree in half. The other side shows he's unable to get free from the tree because a lion is attacking behind him. The details of this work include the muscles, the naturalism it has from the tree trunk, and the movement of Milo's arm in a difficult pose in a twist. In 'David' by Bernini, we see this dynamic tension in this work of art. The 'Milo of Crotona' was admired by Louis XIV and was taken to Verrsailes by Pirre's son Francis to be placed in the gardens.

Pierre Puget was a French sculptor in the seventeenth century. He was born in 1620 in Marseilles which is where be began his career as a painter in 1643. Pierre spent most of his work in Marseilles but also in Toulon. In Toulon he designed and built a doorway of the Town Hall that was one of his sculptures. Pierre is known to inspired by Bernini's

sculpture style and this work seemed to influenced by the 'Triton Fountain' due to the natural forms and upward movement. Pierre wasn't a sculptor he was a painter, architect, and also has done some ship decoration. His most important works of art are found in Genoa.

The work of art found in Genoa and one of the most important pieces of art by Puget is called 'The Blessed Alessandro Sauli'. This statue was made for the Saui family along with another statue 'St. Sebastian'. In these sculptures we see Puget is leaning towards Roman Baroque style. They were used to decorate the niches in the crossing piers of S. Maria di Caringnano, Genoa. The figure is very expressive and shows the intense emotions that are seen in the 17th-century Baroque sculpture. Terracotta was the material that was used for this work. This was very common for the French. Pierre created the edges of the cape, the figure's facial features including the beard, and the detail of the clothes with a shape tool.

This piece of art was made by Bernini an Italian artist. The work is in Rome in the Corner Chapel in Saint Maria della Vittoria. The sculpture of St Teresa and the Angel is placed in the center and we can only see the work from a certain view. This isn't just a sculpture but a "pictorial scene framed by architecture that includes us as worshipers in the religious drama" (Hibbard, Howard. Bernini, p.134). The sculpture is made with white marble and around the piece are beautiful architecture and paintings that Bernini created. What is incredible about Bernini's art is the natural light provided throughout the room. The natural light falls on the 'Ecstasy of St Teresa' and gives us a heavenly view with the help of the paintings of clouds that cover the architecture of the value that helps give this idea. St. Teresa is on a solid marble cloud with her hand and foot dangling senseless. She is leaning back but at the same time, she is held forward with her eyelids heavy and lips parted. The Angel is placed upright from her smiling down with his arrow that pierced her heart. Bernini wanted to give Teresa Ectacy its definitive representation in this work for the Chapel.

This sculpture is a figure of St. Jerome and it was created by the Italian artist Bernini. Jerome is placed next to Magdalen at the entrance of the Siena, Cathedral Chigi Chapel. Jerome's expression in this work is very peaceful as he's closing his eyes and meditating with the Crucifix in his hands. In comparison, the other sculpture of Magdalen displays an agony of physical emotion. Having these works next to one another we see the contrast between their emotions and poses. The sculptures mirror each other by having similar poses but with different legs. Jerome has his left leg on a lion's head and Magdalen has her right leg on a pot. another detail about the statue of Jerome is his clothes overlap the architecture around him.

Since Bernini designed the Chapel the commission of the sculpture made Bernini feel in more control and have more freedom with the work. The figure Magdalen shows in her facial features the emotion of grief and remorse. This is her communication with God showing this physical emotion. Magdalen and Jerome both have this detailed architecture around them along with an arch above them

I will be mentioning many of these well-known artists such as Bernini and Pierre Puget. The information that will be mentioned will be about the artist, where the sculptures were made, materials and details about the piece, and the background about the artworks.

My exhibit is divided into two sections with a additional section of my SLAM artists work. The first section is French sculptures with a piece by Pierre Puget which is my SLAM artist. The second section is Italian Sculptures, this is part of my exhibit because Pierre Puget was inspired by Bernini's sculpture style. The last section is other works that Puget has created.
