In the book 1984 they honored humanity through the telescreens. The telescreens were a source of surveillance over all of humanity to keep them in line and within the law. Staying within the laws all together is innately human because it keeps everyone safe and out of trouble. #keepthepeace

Humanity is honored today through positive influencers. Our world is largely influenced by social media. People who want to have a platform for others to look up to work really hard to become "trendy". Trendy social media users make a huge impact of humans every single day by showing all of the positive aspects of their everyday lives and simply try to convince them to live like them.#positiveinfluencers

Suppression Through Feed

Suppression is shown through the feed because they display a society where everyone is the same and you don't have the free will to make your own decisions. Humanity is suppressed because they cant be an individual and they are held to a very strict limit of freedom.

Suppression Through 1984

In the book 1984, suppression was highly displayed through what they called "thought police". The thought police controlled what you could think about in your own head. Thinking about anything outside of what this society deemed as correct was considered a crime. I think this brings a harsh stop to humans being able to have freedom of thought. It should be normal to have freedom of speech, let alone freedom of thought. This made it hard for humans to live a comfortable life and go on each day without anxiety. #freedomofthought

Suppression Today

In todays world we are suppressed by allowed actions ending in consequences. Things that us humans have the right to do can still lead to consequences by people that DO NOT run the law or have the power to. We live in a very dangerous world that often times answers to everything with violence. This quiets citizens down from saying what they want to say, due to fearing for their life.

The Influence

After reading these books I have realized just how much humans need to have the freedom to grow as their own individual person. It taught me that when you are over constant control and surveillance by others you struggle to be strong mentally. We can't be a community without individuality. Not everyone is created to be the exact same. #individuality

New Insights

I have more knowledge on how poorly technology can impact us humans and it has opened me up to new opinions. I feel now that technology can be a poor source of control. It is scary the power that it has over us humans. There are positive ways to use technology through social media, but there are scary sides to it that I now feel could make society almost robotic. If we allowed it too, technology could take over the world completely and I feel that it's better we don't allow that to happen. #poweroftech
