Drivers Should not be Given Ticket for Paking on LA Sidewalks

by Chukwuemeka Okonkwo
Divers parking on sidewalks is probably okay in a full on emergency. Drivers should not be judged by law enforcement by being given ticket. The packing space provided for drivers is less than the vehicle's driven. When there is less parking space, drivers are forced to park on sidewalks. When there is less parking space the drivers can pack on the sidewalks except there is space provided for the driver's vehicle. When there is less parking space the drivers have reason, right and are allowed to park on sidewalk. Drivers struggle to put their vehicle in the right parking space but since there is no more parking space left, drivers now park in the sidewalk. Government should ensure that drivers do not lack parking space. Government should also ensure that drivers have enough parking space to park their vehicles.

It is not the drivers fault that they are parking on the sidewalk. Why i say so is because, the drivers do not have enough room or space to park their vehicle. Because there is no space for drivers to park their vehicle, they have no other choice but to park their vehicle on the LA sidewalk and because of that, Government should not see that or should not see it as any reason to give the drivers tickets for parking on the LA sidewalk and also giving tickets to drivers is like punishment given to the drivers that are parking on LA sidewalks when they do not deserve any punishment or tickets.

During the suspension of the parkway law, the police still issues 102(One hundred and two) tickets to drivers parked on parkways 2015 and 2016, according to city data. "They never should have issued the drivers the 102 tickets because it is not the drivers fault for parking on La sidewalk". Once the city council approves a new parkway policy, parking enforcement will spend sometime educating the drivers, rather than resuming ticketing immediately. That could also include leaving fliers on the windshields of the drivers vehicle, instead of citation.

For more than three years, the LA city council has told parking officers not to tickets any cars or driver's vehicle parked on parkways - an umbrella term that includes the public land between the sidewalk and the curb, as well as the slopping aprons that connect driveways to the street. The council's 2011 decision to suspend parkway enforcement came in response to an outcry from resident who had been cited for parking on driveways aprons.

A lull in enforcement, officials said, would give drivers some relief and gave the city time to craft new polices.

Individuals or drivers should complain to the government in constructing enough space for the drivers to be able to park their vehicles not on the sidewalk but on the driving space provided by the government.

Drivers should convince the government that they are not completely at fault for parking their cars on sidewalks because sometimes the parking spaces are very small, if a car is parked all the way in front, it will still stick out a little.

In addition, Drivers have limited parking space to park in. Drivers should complain to the government that they lack enough parking space, for the government to be aware of the problem in order for solution to be provided, by building more parking space for the drivers.

Drivers should be given ticket for parking on LA sidewalk because
over time, drivers hopping the curb has taken its toll. Angry residents say that the drivers are destroying the grass and chipping away at the curbs. There will never be enough parking space for the drivers. Parking is a finite meaning (subject to limitations or conditions, as of space, time, circumstances,or the laws of nature), commodity but drivers just keep adding more cars or vehicles to the mix . Then people start breaking rules and it becomes normal. It's just like speeding and rolling stops. Drivers don't realize that cities are not for cars, cities are for the people

In conclusion , drivers are supposed to have enough parking space to park their cars or vehicle and pedestrians will be able to walk freely on sidewalks.

Drivers should Be Given Ticket for Paking on LA Sidewalks Editorial Cartoon

The cartoon below gives a reason why drivers should be given tickets for packing on sidewalks. The rate of accidents are likely to increase because the pedestrians are knocked down by vehicles because they will not know when a vehicle is approaching to them. These cartoon identifies, gives and states the reason why drivers should be given tickets because some of the drivers do not care if there is space for them to park their vehicle, they just park any where they want for example the sidewalk, red curb etc. These cartoon also explains and shows how rough drivers are, for example if some drivers are in hurry to go out to somewhere like for example their jobs, to pick or drop their child or their children from school, they will not check for pedestrians, neither will they check for traffic light to know if the traffic light is green, yellow or red. This cartoon also tells that some drivers do not care about the pedestrian that are crossing or standing on the road. Example: the man that is driving the car that is showed on the picture below.

Drivers Should Not be Given Ticket for Parking on LA Sidewalks.

Drivers should not receive full blame for parking on LA sidewalks. Due to the large amount of cars in a society, drivers are indirectly forced to park their cars on sidewalks. Parking space is always occupied because the parking space provided for drivers are smaller than the vehicles that are produced and driven. The mother The mother and her son are in a car looking for parking space in Newton Free Library parking lot because all the parking are occupied. The title of the cartoon is "No Parking Space" because there is none available parking space for the mother(driver) to park her car. All the parking space is occupied. First, Newton Free Library parking lot is occupied. Second, the mother have nowhere to park her car. Third, Newton Free Library where the mother will get her son's book. Fourth, the cars that have occupied the parking space. In conclusion, the cartoon shows that sometimes drivers have no choice but to park on sidewalks due to lack of parking space.

by Ebelechukwu Okonkwo
For over five years, parking enforcement has not cited people parking on LA sidewalks. Drivers parking their cars on sidewalks is now a problem and causes conflict between the driver and pedestrian. There is more conflict between drivers and pedestrians. The conflict is a little different from most driver-pedestrian conflict in that both the car and the pedestrian were on the sidewalk. Los Angeles City Council should decide on a policy for parkway parking.

With the idea of stopping enforcement on these spaces, city officials could have some time to create new policies to provide enough parking space for drivers to park on and decrease the rate of conflict between drivers and pedestrians.

Bianca Barragan "Over time, cars hopping the curb has taken its toll. Angry residents say the cars are destroying the grass and chipping away at the curbs. Pedestrians complain that drivers are taking advantage of the space they can find."

Joe Linton argues that "Late at night, more than a dozen cars rest on parkways in some blocks of East Hollywood, Koreatown and Westlake, Vehicle wheels have left grass rutted with tire tracks and crumbling curbs. It is difficult for people in wheelchairs to get around the cars parked across the sidewalks."

Non-enforcement of parking laws effectively gives over sidewalk public spaces to cars. Drivers are favored over pedestrians. And this has another class aspect to it: the poorest in my neighborhoods don’t have cars. Allowing drivers to take over public spaces means shifting space from the have-not to the haves.

Isabel Gallegos "it is should be understandable that many of these car owners don’t have a lot of resources, and the drivers are doing the best they can. Paying for off-street parking would be a burden on them (though many people rent off-street parking from a church.) Paying for parkway parking tickets could be a serious burden, if the city resumes enforcement." However, my argument is stronger because if drivers are allowed to park on sidewalks, without given tickets, it will increase the rate of accidents.

The more we privilege drivers and disadvantage pedestrians, the more cars we get, the more lives traffic violence claims, the worse it gets for people on foot. Moreover, both drivers and pedestrians should be treated equally.

Cities regulate every aspect of parking, using everything from time limits for on-street parking to zoning requirements for off-street parking, in solution to this problem cities also employ legions of parking enforcement officers to ensure that drivers obey these regulations, and tickets for parking violations are a major revenue source.
