Source C shows that muslims in France face discrimination due to the country’s assimilation policy, in this case; the ban of Burkinis - swimwear worn by muslim women. This is seen in: “You’ve taken a product that symbolises happiness and joyfulness for Muslim women to swim publicly and socialise with the rest of society- turned it into a product of hate.” This shows how a apparel that doesn’t violate the Muslim culture is being banned thereby denying these people the opportunity to engage in activities others do in a respectful manner according to their religion. A burkini is essentially harmless no different from any body suit that divers’ wear. The fact that burkini’s are banned mainly because they symbolise a religion is discriminatory. Muslims must abandon their religious values just to fit into French society and can’t express themselves freely.
