Daily Activity: Starting Your Argument Map by Sofia Khan

An argument map is a visual representation of an essay’s central claim (or argument or thesis) that also illustrates how an author developed that thesis in the first place. Argument maps usually start by articulating the author’s thesis and by displaying its centrality visually. Then they diagram the key pieces of the author’s thesis by creating branches of claims that support the thesis. Strong maps are able to identify key moments in the essay they aim to illustrate, and they refer to the author’s evidence when necessary. They cite key terms from the essay that are central to the author’s thesis. Maps almost always reveal relationships between key claims, key terms, and evidence by organizing them into a logical and visual format. structured way to consider and evaluate differing viewpoints.

There's a stark similarity between these two boxes; they both share the commonality that socialization plays a significant role in the school community, and in general. Through socializing, we learn from others, grasp concepts, and expand our minds. However, with COVID-19 and the restrictions on meeting other people, socializing became a rare occurrence. Instead of face-to-face interactions, we were severed from being able to hold real conversations, causing difficulties with speech, as our attention span decreased due to the technology, and struggling to talk and connect with one another.
