Proposal Grading Criteria

G18.1 Devise and develop a personal performing arts project

Pass, learners use relevant planning processes and show capable application of project management skills. They will develop the product competently, in line with the aims and constraints of the project.

Merit, learners use planning processes that show modification of their approach to challenges and issues, discarding ideas as they refine the work, in line with the aims and constraints of the project.

Distinction, learners show innovation in the modification of their approach, making valid judgements about challenges and issues. They will apply a range of knowledge, skills and understanding, with consideration of the aims and constraints of the product.

You will use this session to begin exploring movement material for your solo based on your finalised proposal. Remember it is important to research your ideas to gain further inspiration. You will need to use improvisation to investigate movement ideas playing with movements, motifs, structures and devices. It is important that you stick very closely to your chosen stimulus/theme and that this is clear in your movement content.

By the end of this session you should have a clear starting point that you are happy to show in next weeks session for teacher feedback and guidance. This will also be a good opportunity to discuss any concerns that you have.

Task 1- 2^nd year Dancers have been introduced to their G18 unit (Personal Project-Solo choreography and performance) In preparation for next week’s practical session you need to research into the four given stimuli in the attached PowerPoint and choose one to begin practically exploring in the next session. You should come prepared with any accompaniment and resources you may need.

Task 2- Using the attached worksheet you must try and think about the range of stimuli/ starting points and ideas for a solo and begin to collate these into the relevant categories, (you must try and think outside the box, unique personalized ideas are more effective.) Once you have accumulated a number of strong starting points/ideas you need to narrow down your ideas to two choices, ready to begin more in depth research into these next week.
Task 3- Set up a padlet page for your G18 Solo process, create a column where you can collate all your research and resources for your two final chosen ideas and begin to add your research and ideas using a range of sources.
