1. Game Objective I would set: The pupil must be enabled to : Ask and confidently answer simple questions about classroom objects based on the topic Ar Scoil (e.g., Céard atá sa mhála scoile?).

3. Reason for selecting above objective: In my option it is very important for children especially younger ages to engage in fun games to help build vocabulary and questioning/answering as this is a less pressure atmosphere as it is seen as a ‘game’/fun activity. This addresses the difficulty pupils have with asking simple questions and uses familiar school vocabulary in context while making it fun.

B) Fifth Class

1. Game Objective I would set: The pupil must be enabled to :Create and share full sentences using clothing vocabulary in pairs and then with the class (e.g., Caithim bróga reatha, ní chaithim caipín).

2. PLC Strand/Element/Outcome/Progression Step: Strand: Communicating | Element: Understanding and Exploring Language | Learning Outcome: Pupils should be able to construct full sentences confidently | Progression Step 3.

3. Reason for selecting above objective: I think it is important for children to be able to engage in processes similar to English- teacher models, paired work and then share with class. It targets their lack of confidence with sentence formation by doing it in pairs first after the teacher modelling while encouraging use of relevant phrases about sports clothes. This means that the children are confident as they have performed with their peers and will build with confidence as they are repeating it also. 

Class Level: 3rd–4th class

Vocabulary: Mé Féin phrases (Is mise…, Tá mé…), adjectives (ard, fionn, dubh), school staff names (Príomhoide, múinteoir, cúntóir…)

Objective:

Students practice asking and answering questions in Irish to guess which staff member their partner has. It helps them get confident speaking Irish and learn more about people in the school.

How to Play:

1. Give each student a card with a staff member’s picture. Keep it hidden from their partner.

2. Students take turns asking yes/no questions in Irish to figure out the staff member. For example:

• An bhfuil sí/sé ard?

• An bhfuil a gruaig fhionn/dubh?

Use the answers to eliminate options, like in Guess Who. The first to guess correctly wins! Swap cards and play again so everyone gets lots of practice.

Benefits

• Fun way to practice speaking Irish and listening.

• Helps with vocabulary for Mé Féin and school roles.

• Using paired work can help children feel more confident in speaking instead of infront of a class.

• Possibility to use ICT to engage children further in older classes- scan the QR code and guess the teacher based on the clues.
