Also the quote is something to the effect "if the boy wasn't the word of God then God never spoke". Also, as Diego was planning to probably talk about, religion are two different yet connected things. Religion is the thing that lets you think that's it's all gonna be okay after you die, God is our attempt at understanding a force greater than us in the universe.

As humans, we are more likely to survive with companions, we are better off innovating and creating things together.

The woman and the man are very similar in the sense that they both want the same things. They both want to care for/about the boy, but they are also understanding of the idea that to end your life is to end your own personal suffering. The difference between them is that the man had so much more to live for. He had the boy to live for, he had to help end the boy's own suffering by keeping him alive. The woman never had this option. For the most part, she had no role in the boy's survival, and that's the difference between them. It's why the man won't 🤬 himself and the mother will/did.

I think the dad is a brave person because he fights to get for a better place for his son. Specially not knowing where the road ends he just has hope . for happy's question - I don't think it was appropriate for the dad to just take everything away from the guy that stole from them. I think the dad should have known that everyone is looking for a way to survival and just give a small amount because they would keep walking either way and find new resources. for Davion's question i think the fear of death is keeping them alive to see what is in the other side. for melony's question i think the father should of been realistic about the goals they had for themselves. for JW's question they wanted to move because his wife just told him to go south. why not east or west?

Found this on a website and thought it was interesting...
"The death of the Man was also the death of the narrator, and up until that point we'd only seen the world through his eyes; the story had been about him (and his boy, but from his angle), but when the narrator died, another one had to take his place. The Boy isn't as jaded as the Man was, though they'd seen some pretty hardcore shite on their travels. Could it be the world never was AS gnarly as the Man let us understand? That the so called good guys aren't that hard to find? I'm just throwing it out there, but they likely met some pretty damn good guys on the road but because The Man had lost so much it was better to stay away from everyone. The Boy had the Fire, his childlike innocence, and he was lonely, and desperate, and he let someone come close, and it turned out fine. Like it probably would've turned out a hundred times over, had they not been so careful."
