Having a repeating pattern in a melody makes the song catchy which may make the listeners enjoy it more, but in order to stop the song from getting annoying a composer might slip a different pattern in the song for a few seconds and then go back to the previous pattern.

The dynamics in the melody can affect the way it stands out; if the melody slowly gets quieter and then all of a sudden gets loud again, it’s a sort of way for the listener to try and predict what happens next in the song, making them listen for longer and remember the song

The different elements of music contribute to composing a great melody. Without all of those elements the melody may not sound correct. For example, if a melody didn't have a proper structure the song wouldn't be as effective. The instruments used within a melody are also important. Repetition is a good thing to include within a melody, this so that the song then becomes catchy and easy to remember. However if a melody becomes too repetitive the song may become dull or boring. Timbre in a melody may also make a melody more enjoyable for a listener, so the pitch and intensity of the sound or voice in the melody.

An interesting melody would help to make it more memorable, particularly if it uses a range of dynamics. Repetition could also help, however if there are no small changes in dynamics or pitch, then repetition could become boring.
