This is for teachers who wish to delve into how to better support their students mathematical learning through problem solving. Many activities on the site are free, however the courses are not. I personally found the 12 week course offered by Kyle and Jon to add greatly to my understanding of teaching problem solving and how to engage my students more fully in math class (through the use of Notice and Wonder charts and their intriguing and sometimes humorous video prompts).

This amazing website contains on-line math manipulatives (Polypad) for teachers and students. It includes math Courses, Activities, Lessons and videos on how to best use Polypad. These digital manipulatives can be used instead of, or with, physical manipulatives to support student development of key math concepts. I found this to be a wonderful resource to have available when in classrooms with limited manipulatives and when working on math concepts online. It has all the manipulatives that I would have in my own classroom but since I can't carry them all, it was great, as a teacher, to have them always available as I travelled from school to school.

This website contains much of Peter Liljedahl's research findings as well as his Thinking Classroom good problems, number tasks and card tricks. He has also included research from other professionals in the form of articles and videos, a list of other websites that support Thinking Classrooms and mathematical thinking games. I absolutely love using Building Thinking Classrooms concepts in my own classroom as a guide on how to engage students in learning and how to build independence in my students (through implementation of all the toolkits). The problems that I have used to this point (from the book and online) have been well written and easy for a teacher to implement in the classroom and appealing to the students.

Ever tried a problem generator? Well, this site has an amazing one! Dr. Costello's research is all about retrieval of math concepts, differentiation, school wide action plans, curriculum development, and yearlong plans. There is always a problem of the week at various levels (Primary, Elementary, Secondary) and the opportunity to for professional learning (webinars, residences, book studies, etc.). I especially love the problem generator because if you are reiterating concepts throughout the year, it might become a struggle to come up with fresh problem ideas every day.

Welcome to Knowledgehook, a wonderful diagnostic and assessment tool for students and teachers. The game-inspired app allows teachers to assign diagnostic assessment to support assessment for, as & of learning. All questions are multiple choice to echo the format of the EQAO assessment test. Students can also practice math concepts at home as they have access to hundreds and hundreds of questions. Students earn stars and use them to alter their "pet" robot. Math talk promoting game shows are also an option! Although you can buy a license most of the program is available without it. I have been using Knowledgehook for many years and have always found value in have a quick diagnostic tool available to me so that interventions can be done quickly. Also, student like doing the questions, earning stars, and shopping for parts for their "pet". It is also a great way to have grade 3, 6 and 9 students experience multiple choice questions and prepare somewhat for EQAO.

With hundreds of differentiated learning paths, MATHia Adventure (AKA Zorbits) adapts to student progress in real-time, supports remediation for students who are struggling, accelerates learning when the student is ready, and can provide advanced learning. This digital tool helps streamline mathematics planning for teachers and personalizes learning. I really like how this program adjusts to the child playing the game, how I can assign specific tasks to each child and how I can see reports for each student to see how they are doing. Although some of the games are challenging to figure out, the students do enjoy playing the game.
