In the flipped classroom method, students are given basic instructions, through videos, before the class (Jain, 2017). By doing this, it allows the discussion during class to be focused on problem solving and critical thinking (Jain, 2017). The flipped classroom supports PBL because it takes the focus away from the less important details and allows students to stay focused on exploring and inquiry. The teacher can differentiate by assigning more detailed videos to students that need it or using things such as speech to text. The flipped classroom works well with synchronous learning because it does divert the instructions part of the lesson to asynchronous learning, allowing students to be more informed during class, so the synchronous portion of the class can be more active learning. The flipped classroom would work with any project based unit and would meet ISTE standards of empowered learner and knowledge constructor.

Gamification is a way to maintain high student engagement in the classroom. It turns lessons into games or turning the entire class into one big game through assigning points for tasks completed (Jain, 2017). Gamification helps PBL by increasing effective student engagement through a desire to socialize, compete and acheive (Jain, 2017). Differentiation in gamification can be accomplished through the use of strategic groupings and varied tasks for learner's needing modifications. Gamification works best in a synchronous learning environment where students can work together and communicate in real time. Gamification can help meet the ISTE standards of digital citizen, knowledge constructor and creative communicator. Examples include Blooket https://dashboard.blooket.com/login and Kahoot https://create.kahoot.it/.

Zoom is a video conferencing app. Zoom allows for real time communication with sound and video between a group of people. https://zoom.us/ Zoom helps support project based learning by allowing learners to communicate in real time and collaborate on the project. Zoom can also help with differentiation by allowing for more in depth explanations and the use of visual aides. Zoom is best for synchronous learning, as it is designed to have people communicating in real time. Zoom can help meet the ISTE standards of digital citizen, creative communicator and global communicator.

Flipgrid is an app that uses videos for students to respond to a prompt from the teacher, as well as to respond to each other. https://info.flipgrid.com/ Flipgrid helps support PBL by giving students a platform where they can communicate with each other even when they are not in the same space at the same time. It is also a great way to differentiate, as it gives students a way to communicate with others that is not written. Flipgrid is best suited for asynchronous learning as it allows for students to respond at a time that is best for them but still allows them to be seen and heard by their peers. Flipgrid helps meet the ISTE standards of digital citizen, empowered learner, creative communicator and knowledge constructor.

In video quizzes are used soon after material is taught. Problem solving so soon after the material has been taught allows for better knowledge retention and content mastery (Jain, 2017). In video quizzes support PBL by allowing students to be more engaged with the material and have better collaborative conversations since they have better knowledge retention (Jain, 2017). In video quizzes work best during asynchronous learning time. By utilizing asynchronous time, students will be better prepared to be active members during collaboration. In video quizzes helps students meets the ISTE standards of empowered learner and knowledge constructor. One of my favorite apps to use for in video quizzes is EdPuzzle. https://edpuzzle.com/discoverhttps://edpuzzle.com/discover

Floop is a program designed to give students more specific and timely feedback on their work (Gonzalez, 2020). Students send in photos of their work in progress along with any questions they may have and the teacher can comment back (Gonzalez, 2020). This tool can help with PBL because it allows students to submit work with questions pointed at specific parts of their assignment (Gonzalez, 2020). The teacher can then answer back with her answer also pointed at specific parts of the assignment. This tool works best during asynchronous work, when students are needing teacher feedback but are not in the same location as the teacher either physically or virtually. Floop helps students meet the ISTE standards of empowered learner, digital citizenship, knowledge constructor and innovative designer.

Differentiation with the Google Suite can be anything and everything from strategic groups to sentence frames and speech to text. Google Suite can also be used equally well with synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. Students are able to work on projects simultaneously during synchronous time or individually during asynchronous time.
